Break-ups never come easy. But thankfully, in the world of meal delivery services, that idea has been embraced and changed for the better. One of the most attractive features of most meal delivery services is that you can easily cancel or pause your subscription if you find it’s not offering a suitable solution for your lifestyle.
Freshly is one of the meal delivery services out there that has truly honed in on this concept, with an incredibly straightforward cancellation process. In fact, through my extensive research, I found Freshly to offer one of the simplest cancellation processes of any meal delivery service.
While this might seem like a strange feature to look out for, it’s worth noting when you consider how expensive being trapped in a subscription can get over time.
While Freshly – with its fully gluten-free menu – might be a great subscription for some, you might be looking for something a little bit different. Thankfully, there are lots of other options out there for you.
Home Chef and Sunbasket are a couple of my favorites, known for their diet-friendly meal options and providing both meal kits and prepared meals. Green Chef has a wide range of gluten-free meal kits for you to choose from for anyone looking to be more hands-on in the kitchen.
Freshly assigns a deadline to each subscriber that is dependent on your location and preferred delivery day. Typically, this deadline falls around five to six days before your delivery is due. You can find the details in your confirmation email and under each order’s delivery date. As long as you cancel before your deadline, you won’t be charged for your next order.
Sign in / open account settings – Sign in to your account and open the Settings tab under your account in the top right corner of the page. Note that Freshly can’t stop your shipment for that week once your deadline has passed and it’s showing as either prepared or shipped.
Select Cancel Subscription – You can cancel your subscription, or make changes to your plan and delivery day, including skipping orders up to three weeks ahead of time. You can also choose to pause your deliveries for four, eight, or twelve weeks.
Complete a short survey – Before you can process your cancellation, you’re prompted to complete a short, three-question survey. Two of the questions are required, while the open-ended question is optional.
Confirm your cancellation – Once you’ve completed the survey, you’ll need to check the box confirming your cancellation and hit the Cancel my account button. Look out for the confirmation email to be sure your request has been processed.
And that’s it! Your cancellation has been completed.
Before you decide to cancel your Freshly subscription, I recommend checking out my full-length Freshly review. There might be some nuances you learn about Freshly that could help it to become a better fit for you.
Even though your subscription with Freshly didn’t work out, don’t be discouraged. Thankfully, there are so many different meal delivery services available that you can easily find one better suited for your lifestyle.
While you might think that prepared gluten-free meals are hard to find, the good news is that there are many options available. Some of my favorite meal delivery services that are great alternatives to Freshly include Home Chef, Sunbasket, and Green Chef.
Home Chef is an excellent option that allows for the ultimate customization of your meals. Each menu item has a Customize It option, providing multiple alternatives, including swapping, upgrading, or doubling up on some of the ingredients in each kit. (My colleague writes all about her meal kit selection in her expert full-length review).
You can also quickly view the allergen contents of each meal, making avoiding certain ingredients a breeze. You’ll find that Home Chef has a wide range of options for those interested in a gluten-free diet.
If you prefer prepared meals over meal kits, you can check out Fresh and Easy for delicious low or no prep meals.
Another great alternative is Sunbasket, which offers one of the most extensive lists of meal plans I’ve seen in a meal delivery service. From prepared meals to meal kits, Sunbasket doesn’t just stop there. It also offers add-on items like snacks, smoothies, and breakfasts. Check out the Gluten-Free plan to find meals that are comparable to Freshly’s.
You can find out all of the ins and outs of a Sunbasket subscription by checking out our full-length review.
You have the option of choosing from one of the ten different meal plans Sunbasket offers or you can mix and match to customize your meals however you choose.
Green Chef is another meal delivery service that offers an extensive selection of weekly meals to choose from. It’s sure to provide diet-friendly meals, including low carb, Plant-Powered, Keto + Paleo, and gluten-free.
Learn all about the details in this full-length review and find out how you can get the best deals with Green Chef. Suffice it to say that, if you’re looking to be more hands-on in the kitchen to prepare your meals, Green Chef’s meal kits are an excellent option for you.
Check out the Balanced Living plan and see some of the mouth-watering options available this week.
Although some meal kits can be confusing, Green Chef eliminates any possibility of that by separately packaging each meal. Additionally, any unique sauces or marinades come prepared from the Green Chef kitchen, helping to cut down on extensive meal prep times.
Thankfully, there are plenty of other options out there if you feel like things just aren’t working out with your Freshly subscription.
You don’t have to feel committed to Freshly just because it’s certified gluten-free. There are so many other meal delivery services that offer well-priced, diet-friendly meals so that you can continue getting the nourishment you need without compromising on taste or budget.
While Freshly might not have been the best option for you, don’t be discouraged. I recommend trying out other great alternatives – like Home Chef, Sunbasket, or Green Chef, to see if one of those is a better fit for your lifestyle.
