RealEats makes it super easy to pause or cancel your orders. You don’t have to call customer support or offer any explanations – everything’s done from your account. Plus, the process is the same whether you’ve used RealEats’ special discount or not! |
If you’re vegetarian or want meals designed for a specific diet, I can see why RealEats may not be for you. I mean, the food is tasty, and the sous-vide method keeps everything fresh, but the recipes mostly follow the same format (protein, veggies, and starch).
On the other hand, Sunbasket’s menu is diverse, with meals for specific diets such as paleo or vegan. And, just like RealEats, Subasket also offers add-ons and snacks.
If you’re shopping around, I’ll teach you how to cancel/pause RealEats and give you my take on the top three alternatives.
Log in to your account – Log in to the RealEats website (from a desktop or mobile device) and access the My Account section.
Find the Manage Subscription section – Here you can cancel your subscription altogether, or hit pause for weeks when you don’t want to receive an order.
Cancel the subscription – find the Cancel Subscription option and click on it.
As I’ve mentioned above, a RealEats subscription is easy to cancel or pause. However, you have to take into account the cutoff day and time. For RealEats, you have to cancel/pause your subscription before 11:59 pm ET on Thursdays. Otherwise, you’ll be charged for another order before the cancellation comes into effect.
Log in to your account – Your account is automatically created when you place your first order and you can use it to track and amend future orders. Simply go to the RealEats website, and click the Login button in the upper-right corner.
Go to Manage Subscription – Once you’re logged in, select My Account (top right corner) and click on Manage Subscription. Next, click on More Options.
Cancel your subscription – When you reach this step, you have the option to pause your deliveries for any particular week (by switching to the Off setting) or cancel the subscription altogether. Choose the one that works for you – and you’re all done.
What I like about RealEats is that it makes it incredibly easy to return if you change your mind. Just log in to your account and choose the meal plan you want.
Sunbasket offers a diverse menu, featuring both ready-made meals and meal kits. You can mix and match between ten different plans, catering to a wide range of dietary needs – you’re not locked into a specific meal plan.
So whether you’re a vegetarian or following the paleo diet, Sunbasket has you covered. Also, at Price: Missing price for Product undefined per meal on the Fresh & Ready menu, the service is more affordable than RealEats.
Plus, Sunbasket often has discounts and deals (No active deal – the current deal) that help keep the overall cost of the meals at an affordable level. Take a look at our full-length Sunbasket review to learn more about the menu and how to switch it up to keep your meals interesting.
Home Chef doesn’t offer specific meal plans, but its menu is diverse enough to help you maintain a healthy and balanced diet. Plus, if you’re on a weight loss diet, you’ll find plenty of options for both calorie-conscious and low-carb meals.
My colleague’s in-depth review also shows how you can customize the proteins in each meal to get your dinners just the way you like them.
But, unlike RealEats, Home Chef is a meal kit delivery service. This means you’ll have to do some cooking. Honestly, I enjoy this part because it’s a nice way to develop some new skills in the kitchen. And, at a starting price of Price: Missing price for Product undefined per meal, it is affordable for most people.
With over 30 ready-to-eat meal options each week and a starting price of $6.90 per meal, Freshly’s menu is flexible and affordable. Plus, you can have your pick of gluten-free meals since Freshly is a gluten-free certified food service.
Regardless of your dietary needs, Freshly’s wide range of options means that there’s something for everyone. Plus, as my colleague’s full-length Freshly review shows, the focus is on healthy eating.
Freshly is great for anyone who doesn’t want to spend much time in the kitchen. All its meals are ready to eat in about three minutes. And, more often than not, chances are you’ll get a discount - the current deal is Get $175 off your first 7 boxes!!
RealEats can be a great option for people who don’t have any dietary restrictions and enjoy a well-balanced meat-based daily menu. However, if you’re vegetarian or want to switch to a plant-based diet, the options are extremely limited.
Luckily, your subscription is easy to cancel (you don’t even have to contact the customer service team!) and there are plenty of reliable alternatives on the market.
Meal Delivery Service | Starting Price | Special Discount | Dietary preferences | Our Rating
Price: Missing Product sunbasket | Paleo, vegetarian, Lean & Clean, gluten-free, carb-conscious, Mediterranean, diabetes-friendly, pescatarian, Fresh & Ready | 9.1 stars
$7.99 | Calorie-conscious, carb-conscious, vegetarian | 9.3 stars
$6.90 | Plant-based, gluten-free, dairy-free, carb-conscious | 8 stars |
Yes. Everything can be handled online from your account, so there’s no need to contact the customer service team or offer any explanation as to why you want to cancel.
This depends on what you’re looking for and why you decided to give up on RealEats. For instance, Sunbasket is a great healthy option if you’re looking for diversity and the type of meals available (meal kits and ready meals).
On the other hand, Home Chef is more affordable, but it only delivers meal kits. If you want only ready-made meals, Freshly is a great alternative. Also, all the services listed here focus on delivering nutritious and tasty meals that encourage a healthy lifestyle.
You can cancel or pause your subscription, effective immediately, before 11:59 pm ET on Thursdays. After this date and time, you’ll receive (and be charged for) one more delivery.
