Macy’s Wine Shop offers a broad selection of wines and fast shipping. But with many wine delivery options available, is Macy’s Wine Shop the right choice for you? In this hotly competitive wine club market, making the right choice can be challenging. And that’s why I’m here to help.
I did a thorough study of Macy’s Wine Shop. I examined everything from its wine variety to its shipping policies, customer service options, and prices. And after that effort, I feel comfortable recommending Macy’s Wine Shop to wine lovers looking for interesting wines at good prices.
Macy’s Wine Shop has a lot to offer wine enthusiasts. It has an interesting selection of wines and its prices per bottle are very reasonable. It also gives you options for both subscriptions and a la carte orders, so you can try the wines for yourself before committing to recurring deliveries. Read on to find out more!

Macy’s WIne Shop offers nearly 200 wines, along with a selection of wine bundles and sets. Fortunately, its website is easy to navigate and gives you many filtering options so you can find exactly the bottle you are looking for.
Alongside well-known regions like France and Italy, you’ll find wines from less familiar regions. For example, there are wines from Argentina, Hungary, New Zealand, and South Africa. The selection of domestic wines is surprisingly modest, with around 30 American wines available.
The Macy’s Wine Shop website provides information about each wine’s history, tasting notes, and pairings. This information is great for novice wine buyers, and will also be helpful for wine lovers who are curious about a new bottle.
Macy’s Wine Shop also offers 3, 6, and 12-bottle bundles. You can order gifts under $50, gifts under $100, and Luxe Gifts of over $100. This saves you shopping time and helps you stay within your budget. You can also create your own box as a gift set.
Martha Stewart curates several bundles at Macy’s Wine Shop, like the Martha’s Holiday Entertaining Trio pictured above. The Martha Stewart Wine Club has closed its doors, but you can still order wines selected by the celebrity chef and uber-homemaker herself.
You can choose between a box of reds, whites, or a mix of both. If you choose to place a 1-time order instead of subscribing, there’s a 3-bottle minimum. If you sign up for the subscription, Macy’s Wine Shop experts curate the selection for you.
Each box also comes with tasting notes describing flavor profiles, serving tips, and pairing ideas for each bottle. You even get information about the regions, varietals, and vineyards.
Bottles arrive securely packaged to handle rough shipping. Macy’s Wine Shop uses cardboard dividers and shields to hold the bottles in place and protect against impact. The cardboard boxes and padding are recyclable.
The selection at Macy’s Wine Shop is very good but not especially adventurous. You’ll find a lot of familiar varietals like Riesling and Pinot Noir. There are definitely some less common wines to be found, but generally the menu at Macy’s Wine Shop is geared toward wine lovers who know what they like and are looking for bottles of their favorites at a good price.
Here are some of the Macy’s Wine Shop selections that I found particularly interesting.
This 2022 Rotondo Frappato is made with a signature Sicilian grape: Frappato. The Frappato grape produces lighter reds that are lower in tannins but loaded with fruity and floral notes. It’s a great choice for Beaujolais lovers and pairs well with creamy food and red sauce Italian dishes.
South Africa’s Chenin Blanc grapes have become popular with wine connoisseurs thanks to its fruit-forward profile and refreshing acidity. Wild Gnu 2021 has notes of pear, yellow apple, apricots and peaches with floral undertones and a mineral sharpness. It’s a great choice for summer and pairs well with spicy dishes and fruit desserts.
2022 Bruno Lafon Grenache Rosé comes from the winemaking regions of southern France. Grenache grapes are used to make many of France’s best rosés. If you think all rosés are too sweet and uncomplicated, you’ll enjoy Bruno Lafon Grenache Rosé’s fruity-floral bouquet with citrus and nectarine notes. It pairs wonderfully with seafood, shellfish and goat cheese dishes.

Macy’s Wine Shop is on our list of the best cheap wine delivery services and offers excellent wines for the price. But if you want premium wines for a special occasion or to build your wine collection, you won’t find much that suits your needs.
Macy’s Wine Shop charges $14.95 shipping + $2.95 processing on all orders of 3-5 bottles. Shipping is free on orders of 6+ bottles, but there is still a $2.95 processing fee.
Orders placed at Macy’s Wine Shop before 1:00 PM Pacific time will ship that day. Orders placed after that will ship the following day. Shipments generally arrive within 1-3 business days after you place your order. As with all wine shipments, an adult signature will be required upon delivery.
If you won’t be at home when the wine is delivered, you can have it delivered to your office or use FedEx’s Hold At Location service to have it delivered to 1 of over 14,000 pickup locations. Just choose Pickup Location when checking out, and the location will hold your package for up to 5 days.
You can place orders without a subscription. But if you want a regular supply of reasonably priced international and domestic wines, here’s how to become a member of Macy’s Wine Club. The process is easy and, unlike many other wine delivery services, you don’t even have to take a quiz beforehand.
Macy’s Wine Club offers a great introductory 6-bottle trial offer so you can see for yourself if a subscription is suited to your needs.
You can choose a curated selection of reds, whites, or a mixture of both.
Because you are ordering wine, you will have to provide your date of birth. You’ll also have to sign for your package when it arrives and show the delivery person your ID.
This is the page where you confirm that you want a subscription and that you have provided the correct address.
Confirm your shipping and billing addresses again, enter your payment information, and you’re through.
You can cancel pending orders at any time prior to shipment by calling the Customer Service team. I would be happier if Macy’s Wine Shop let you cancel your pending orders at the website or through an app.
You can contact the Macy’s Wine Shop customer service department at (855) 966-2224 from 9 AM to 8 PM Eastern time on weekdays and 10 AM to 7 PM on weekends. You can also reach them by email at [email protected].
For wine newcomers, Macy’s Wine Shop offers a Wine 101 blog that provides you with information about different varietals, wines, and pairings. I would like to see a more detailed FAQ, as their current FAQ only answers 7 questions.
While Macy’s Wine Shop offers refunds in case of damage, it will only offer refunds for bottles if you return them. Once they arrive back at the warehouse, you get a refund minus shipping costs and a $12 restocking fee. Compare this to Firstleaf, which will give you full credit for any bottle you dislike in states where refunds are legal.
I was not clear about the number of bottles in a subscription box, so I sent the Macy’s Wine Shop support team a note from the website asking for clarification on whether it was 6 or 12 bottles. I sent my message after hours on Friday and received a response on Saturday, so I can’t complain about their response time.
But their “answer” was a link to the first page of the Macy’s Wine Club page, which had absolutely no information about the number of bottles you get in a subscription box! Customer support is definitely an improvement area for Macy’s Wine Shop.
I finally got my answer (12 bottles) on the bottom of the payment page. It was in fine print and below a box that I had to check to approve the subscription. It would have made things much easier had Macy’s Wine Shop mentioned this on the website, or if the support team had let me know in the first reply.
Macy’s Wine Shop vs Firstleaf: Macy's Wine Shop provides a curated subscription option, but Firstleaf offers a personalized wine experience with its introductory palate quiz that it uses to send you wines tailored to your taste preferences.
