You’ve rooted OTACA in deep Mexican heritage while embracing modern luxury. How do you strike the balance between honoring tradition and creating something distinctly contemporary?

We see heritage and modernity as two sides of the same coin. Our process is rooted in tradition.. Mature lowland agaves, slow cooking, natural fermentation, deep well water.. It’s the same respect for craft that’s been honored in Mexico for generations. Where we bring a contemporary lens is in how we present it, a minimalist black-and-white design, our bottle shape, font, and square topper all inspired by Mesoamerican culture, particularly the geometry and the strength of Chichén Itzá. The balance comes from never compromising the integrity of the liquid, while giving people a new way to experience it. Tradition gives us authenticity but modern luxury gives us allure. Together, they create a tequila that feels timeless yet distinctly of this moment.

Many brands talk about smoothness, but OTACA triple-distills and uses the ancient Tahona method. How do you explain to consumers why process matters as much as taste?

Process and time are what create true taste. Smoothness alone can be engineered, but we chose the harder road because it’s in our DNA.
