One Potato makes it really easy to pause your future orders in the account settings, without having to call customer support. That’s even the case if you purchased your meal box using One Potato’s special discount. |
One Potato is a meal delivery service that makes it fun for families to come together in the kitchen and put together dinners and more. It’s still a growing company, so there’s room for improvement in some areas, like pricing and the number of recipes available.
If you’re struggling with the shipping fees or the meal options, One Potato subscriptions are simple to cancel or put on pause. I’ll walk you through the whole process. I’ve also included three of my top alternatives, like HelloFresh, if you’re looking for a replacement to try.
Log in. Enter your information on the One Potato website to manage your account online.
Find the cancellation option. In the account settings, click on the option that asks Need to cancel your subscription?
Verify reasons for cancellation. Choose from the drop-down menu.
Confirm the changes. Make sure that the cancellation went through and that you received an email.
Log in – Sign in to your account on the One Potato website using the link on the homepage.
Open the account settings to edit – Using the link on the bottom that reads Need to cancel subscription? This link will begin the cancellation progress.
Provide required information to proceed – One Potato is looking for a quick description of why you’re canceling from a drop-down menu. Select the option that best fits your answer.
Click on the cancellation button – There’s one final button to click to cancel after the question. Make sure to click this to complete the process.
Also, be sure to cancel your order before 9 am Pacific Time on Wednesdays in order to prevent your next order from being processed.
Confirm your cancellation — Once you click the cancel button, you’ll receive a confirmation screen, plus you’ll see an email come through confirming this update to your subscription. If you do want to reactivate your subscription, it’s easy to do that on this screen as well.
HelloFresh is a great alternative to One Potato. Check out the Family-Friendly plan for a collection of meals that’ll please even the pickiest eater. Our full-length HelloFresh review covers the different plans and how the service works.
You’ll have at least 28 meal options to choose from including meat, fish, and vegetarian options. This might be a good meal delivery service for you if you felt like One Potato didn’t have enough options for your family – with HelloFresh you can order up to six recipes per week (while One Potato only offers two or three meals per week).
Home Chef is a great alternative for One Potato, especially if you have some vegetarian eaters in the family. Many of the recipes can be customized to include plant-based protein instead of meat. The family-friendly meals, like this one, are created to help keep the prep work easy and simple and the cleanup to a minimum.
Read our full-length Home Chef review for more information on the types of meals you can enjoy from Home Chef. This is a great option for families looking for more variety and the ability to customize each dish.
EveryPlate is the best alternative if you’re looking for the most budget-friendly option for families. With meals starting at just $1.49 per serving, the FamilyPlate plan has options for families of different sizes. Our full EveryPlate review has more information about the plans available.
EveryPlate keeps prices down by keeping meals simple, using fewer ingredients, and featuring affordable sides like carrots and potatoes. These straightforward recipes have the bonus of appealing to picky eaters and they’re easy to put together, even if you have very little cooking experience.
EveryPlate is totally worth trying if you want the convenience of meal delivery at a lower price tag.
