That said, Blue Apron won’t be for everyone. Thankfully, whether you’re a busy professional, a wannabe home chef, or a working family with hungry mouths to feed, there’s a meal delivery service on my list that’s perfect for you.

Blue Apron’s internationally-inspired dishes are hard to pass up, like the Mexican-Spiced Steaks (pictured), are hard to pass up. Most of the meal kits can be cooked and served in as little as 25 to 30 minutes, and there are even some oven-ready and no-cook prepared meals available.
The how-to videos and online demos make this a great service for anyone who wants to learn how to cook meals from scratch or brush up on their technique in the kitchen, while the recipe cards in each box are precise and easy to follow.
There are 5 plans to choose from. Alongside the company’s signature and veggie plans, the Wellness program focuses on nutritionist-approved meals and WW-recommended recipes, and Fast & Easy selects only time-saving options that include microwaveable meals.
The plans are designed to make choosing your meals a more streamlined process, with personalized recommendations, and you can tick as many as you like when you sign up. “Family-Friendly” pretty much speaks for itself – with meals that even the pickiest of kids will be keen to try.
Meanwhile, the weekly add-ons are great for when you don’t have time to do the supermarket shop – pick up everything from gourmet breakfast dishes and additional proteins to snacks, desserts, extra ready-meals, and more. The online Market goes one step further with wine and seasonal feasting bundles, mixed spices, and even kitchen tools and utensils.
Blue Apron also promises only non-GMO produce, hormone-free meat, and sustainably sourced seafood in its kits. It’s certainly a popular choice across the US, and after some in-depth research, our reviewer agreed that it “certainly lives up to the hype.”.
Meals start at $5.74 per serving. Order up to 4 recipes each week, for either 2 or 4 people.
Single-serving prepared meals
30+ dishes to choose from each week
Dietary options include keto, low-calorie, plant-based, and more
Current deal: Up to $276 off!
Factor has options that cater to a number of diets, including keto, low-calorie, veggie, vegan, and high-protein meals. If you’re looking for tasty, balanced meals you can eat at your desk, on the go, or as a healthy post-workout lunch then it’s worth a try.
The keto and high protein options are especially great for gym bunnies or athletes who want to keep count of their macros or lose body fat, with protein-packed choices like the Soy Braised Beef with Stir-Fry Veggies (pictured).
The Calorie Smart meals come in at 550 calories or less per serving, and though the number of vegan and vegetarian meals is fewer than its meat options, they’re a great way to help you add more vegetables to your diet. For more plant-based meals try Green Chef.
All the meals are chef-prepared with antibiotic- and hormone-free proteins and non-GMO ingredients. All you need is a microwave!
Our expert reviewer found Factor meals to be “of high quality and really tasty” when they tried the meals at home. Plus, you get a free 20-minute consultation with an in-house dietitian when you sign up. If you want further support, you can subscribe to the service’s dedicated nutrition coaching program for an extra cost per month.
Factor also offers add-ons like protein packs, smoothies, soups, and wellness shots. Alongside the single-serving meals, you can pick up breakfast dishes (think pancakes, overnight oats, and breakfast skillets), cold-pressed juices, and keto-friendly snacks like cookies, energy balls, and keto cheesecake.
With prices starting at $6.19 per serving, Factor is up there as one of the priciest options on my list. But if you want fast, convenient, and tasty meals that are made from high-quality ingredients, Factor could be worth the investment.

HelloFresh is America’s most popular meal delivery service, with a dedicated family-friendly menu of dishes that kids will love. Choose from more than 50 recipes each week, including customer favorites like the Chicken and Pineapple Quesadillas (pictured) that are ready in just 30 minutes.
You’ll find a good mix of American comfort-food, plus Asian, Italian, Mexican influences, and more – think burgers, tacos, stir-fries, hearty pasta dishes, and new and exciting bowl food options.
Its huge variety means there’s something for everyone – it’s also priced similarly or lower than many of its competitors, starting at just $3.32 per serving. And you can order up to 6 recipes per week for families of either 2 or 4 people.
Our reviewer tried HelloFresh at home and was a particularly big fan of the service’s HelloCustom feature, which lets you swap out the protein and/or sides on some entrees. It means you can even make some of the recipes vegetarian if you want to.
Each week HelloFresh will suggest meals based on the plan you picked when you signed up, but you can easily switch these recipes and choose your own – you’ll always have access to the full menu. Choose from Pescatarian, Fit & Wholesome, Veggie, Meat & Veggies, and Quick & Easy.
If you’re aprehensive about your cooking skills, HelloFresh labels its recipes by difficulty. Most dishes are rated either “Easy” or “Medium”, and if you have limited kitchen space or culinary equipment, look for Easy Prep and Easy Cleanup recipes which include sheet pan and one-pot dishes.
It’s priced similarly or lower than many of its competitors, starting at just $3.32 per serving. And you can order up to 6 recipes per week for families of either 2 or 4 people. All in all, if you’re brand-new to meal delivery services, HelloFresh is a great place to start.
Order for up to 6 people per box
30 recipes available each week
Dietary options include keto, gluten-free, plant-based, and more
If you’re looking for a service that caters well to different dietary needs, Green Chef could be the one. Its ready-to-use sauces and seasonings make cooking healthy yet sophisticated meals easy, with most taking around 30 minutes or less to get on the table.
The plant-forward menu is great for both vegetarians and vegans, while its dedicated Keto plan gets great reviews and is packed with gluten-free options. There’s also a dedicated Gluten-Free (and soy-free) plan, as well as Mediterranean and Protein Packed plans. Whichever you choose (and you can tick as many as you like, you’re not limited to just 1) – you’re free to order from the entire menu.
The meals promise to be healthy and balanced, and packed with nutrionally dense ingredients to ensure your body is getting everything it needs. The variety is also quite amazing – Green Chef really doesn’t hold back on the number of ingredients in each dish and its recipes take influence from cuisines around the world.
I cooked Green Chef’s Lemon-Basil Caper Chicken at home and it tasted even better than it looked. In my opinion, Green Chef has some of the most delicious meal kits in the business.
The add-ons are great, too. Each week you can complement your meals with a range of breakfast dishes, salads, wraps, and extra helpings of quality protein like salmon, chicken cutlets, and barramundi fillets.
With prices from $5.99 per serving, Green Chef is one of the more expensive meal delivery services on this list. But if you want high-quality, organic produce, and hormone-free, sustainably sourced proteins from local farms, it could be worth it. You can order 3 or 4 meals per week for 2,3, or 4 people.
Swap, upgrade, or double-up on protein
25+ meals to choose from each week, plus extras
Dietary options include carb- and calorie-conscious
Home Chef always scores highly in our reviews, thanks to its wide variety of recipes, meal types, and menu flexibility. No matter what your culinary preferences are, Home Chef usually has dishes that cater to most budgets, tastes, and schedules.
The service’s Customize-It feature is one of the reasons Home Chef is so popular, allowing you to swap or double-up on the protein in almost all of its meals. You could order the Fried Chicken with Honey Carolina Gold BBQ Sauce (pictured), for example, with mahi-mahi or pork chops instead.
For busy nights, Home Chef offers a range of quick and easy dinners, from low-prep oven-ready dishes to super-speedy 15-minute meal kits. The Culinary Collection is a range of more complex recipes that feature premium ingredients such as steak, shrimp, and truffle.
The menu is so broad that after trying a few of the meals for themselves, our reviewer revealed that they had “a pretty perfect experience” with Home Chef.
However, Home Chef doesn’t have a lot of options for vegans or people on specialized diets – and there are only a few veggie options each week which seem to be dwindling further. But most Phoenix omnivores will find a lot to love about this service. If you’re vegetarian, I can recommend Blue Apron or HelloFresh.
You can exclude some ingredients when you sign up, but the list is basic (and not suitable for those with serious allergies), with items such as nuts, pork, shellfish, and mushrooms. It’s more about analyzing your likes and dislikes so Home Chef can recommend meals that might appeal.
There is a good selection of add-ons to choose from, too, including cupboard staples like bread and cakes, and chilled items such as soups, smoothies, breakfast entrees, salads, and ready-to-bake desserts.
Home Chef’s meals start from $7.99 per serving, with the option to order up to 6 servings on some recipes. Note, however, that any customizations will change the final total.
Pre-portioned ingredients and oven-ready dishes
16+ recipes to choose from per week
Dietary options include calorie- and carb-conscious
Home Chef’s Fresh and Easy line offers a selection of high-quality, low-prep meals that usually require nothing more than some minor assembling and an oven. Between work and Phoenix traffic jams, finding the time to cook for yourself and for your family can be a challenge but with Fresh and Easy it needn’t be.
The 15-Minute Meal Kits are great for anyone who likes to get hands-on in the kitchen but doesn’t always have a lot of time to spare, while the Fast & Fresh dishes are microwaveable for maximum convenience.
Families will love hearty dishes like the Cheesy Italian-Style Bolognese Risotto (pictured), and since everything is prepared and comes with accompanying oven-safe trays or pre-prepped ingredients, cleanup is a total breeze.
My colleague was really impressed. As they said in their review: if you sign up for Fresh and Easy, “you’ll save loads of time and hassle!”
The service also lets you take advantage of Home Chef’s Customize-It feature and swap or double-up on proteins in many of the recipes. In some cases you can upgrade to organic, too.
Fresh and Easy follows Home Chef’s labeling style, and everything from the allergens to spice level are clearly marked on each recipe. You can sort the meals for carb- and calorie-conscious offerings, but like Home Chef, you’ll only find a handful of options for vegetarians.
You can order from the full Home Chef menu even from the Fresh and Easy plan, which is great news for those who like to mix it up. You can take advantage of the Culinary Collection meal kits for a special date night, for example.
Fresh and Easy prices start from $7.99 per serving, but much like Home Chef, customizations and add-ons will all change the final total at checkout.
Physician-designed meals and dietary support
150+ breakfast, lunch, and dinner items – plus snacks
Dietary options include gluten-free, diabetes-friendly, heart-healthy, and more
BistroMD sends you healthy, balanced, flash-frozen meals that keep you feeling full despite having less than 450 calories per serving. The aim of the service is to help those who want to lose weight either because of an ongoing health condition or to better improve their lifestyle.
There’s no denying that BistroMD is a convenient way to lose weight. The service was set up by Dr Caroline Cederquist, a bariatric physician and weight loss specialist. Since you’ll receive calorie-controlled portions of breakfast, lunch, and dinner to your door, there’s zero need to track your food intake, and managing your diet becomes a lot easier.
You’ll also have access to registered dietitians and fitness experts to guide you on your weight loss journey. This support has been known to encourage people to develop healthier lifestyle habits that will help them maintain their ideal weight once they reach it.
BistroMD has 6 plans to choose from, including Gluten-Free, Heart-Healthy, Diabetic, Menopause, and Keto programs. You’ll find a broad range of meat, seafood, and veggie dishes on the menu, but limited vegan options (if any).
Our reviewer was especially impressed by BistroMD’s desserts and snack options. The optional EATS (Essential And Tasty Snacks) are available to help you avoid the temptation of calorific alternatives, and include high-protein, high-fiber treats like strawberry cheesecake, cookie dough protein bars, shakes, chips, and more.
While these plans are designed with input from medical professionals, people with cardiac or blood sugar issues should speak with their physician before starting any kind of weight loss plan.
Prices start from $8.24 per serving when you order the maximum number of meals per week. Plus, if you want to lose weight with your partner, BistroMD offers a 15% discount for couples and families.
Easy-to-follow recipes and high-quality ingredients
100+ choices each week, including desserts and premium meals
Dietary options include vegetarian, vegan, gluten-free, and more
Marley Spoon offers a wide selection of meat, fish, and plant-based dishes, all approved by TV host and cookbook author Martha Stewart. Many of the recipes feature Martha’s signature seasonings and sauces, too.
If you want to pick up some new cooking skills and try new cuisines, Marley Spoon is a great place to start.
The menu is certainly extensive, with a dizzying array of dishes that fall under categories like Kid Friendly, Healthy, One-Pot, and Under 30 Minutes. This service also caters well to dietary accommodations, with dairy-free, no-added-gluten, and low-calorie options.
If you feel intimidated about following in Martha Stewart’s culinary footsteps – don’t be! The step-by-step instructions, ready-made sauces, and perfectly portioned produce make preparation quick and easy. Our reviewer tried Marley Spoon at home and found the recipes to be ”easy enough for an amateur cook”.
While much of the cuisine is home-style American (hello, Classic Mac and Cheese!), you’ll also find lots of global-inspired dishes on the menu. It also offers up a selection of breakfast items, tasty desserts, a limited number of ready meals, and extra proteins.
This is also a service that works hard on sustainability and was the first to be declared 100% carbon-neutral. The website features clear recycling instructions and gives details on how Marley Spoon achieves its zero carbon footprint. It even added a Climatarian label for that produce less than 1.1 lbs of CO2 per serving.
And with meals starting at $2.99 per serving, Marley Spoon brings you this quality and variety at a very reasonable price. You can order up to 6 recipes each week for either 2 or 4 people. The minimum order is 2 recipes per week.
Meal kits and prepared meals
25+ entrees each week, including breakfast and lunch
Dietary options include high-protein, gluten-free, and more
Purple Carrot offers some of the best-tasting vegan meals out there, in my opinion. Whether you’re a long-standing vegan or new to a plant-based lifestyle, you’ll be sure to love what’s on offer.
There are no soy burgers or faux chicken to be found here – just tasty, veggie-focused meals like the Curried Cauliflower Tartine with Hummus and Roasted Red Peppers (pictured) that you might find at Verdura or any other high-end vegan restaurant in Phoenix.
In fact, even non-vegans will find Purple Carrot’s plant-forward offerings delicious and a great way to add more veggies to their diet. After trying Purple Carrot at home, our meat-loving reviewer declared it “guaranteed to please even the fussiest of omnivores.”.
The recipes are adventurous and inspiring, and you can pick up both meal kits and prepared meals to experiment with. You can also browse the menu via categories such as high-protein, soy-free, nut-free, gluten-free, and more.
The meal kits take around 20 to 30 minutes to make and the prepared meals take 2-3 mins in the microwave. Purple Carrot has also introduced a Less Prep menu, which includes recipes that come with pre-chopped vegetables, prepared sauces, and methods which require fewer pots and pans for easy cleanup.
The service also has some extras available, including quick lunch and breakfast options. You’ll find breakfasts like Loaded Avocado Toast and Blood Orange Chia Pudding, plus fresh lunch options such as the Mango Poke Bowls and Kimchi Grilled Cheese Sandwiches.
There’s even a Plantry with snacks and ingredients like almond cookies, bean burgers, and plant-based cheeses. Yum!
Prices start from $8.50 per serving when you order the max number of meals per week. Choose from 3 or 4 meal kits that serve 2 or 4, or single-serving prepared meal bundles of 6, 8, or 10.
Easy-to-follow, 40-minute meal kits
45+ recipes on the menu each week
Dietary options include vegetarian, low-calorie, and dairy-free
Dinnerly is the cheapest meal delivery service in Phoenix, with meals from $2.12 per serving. In these times just about everybody is feeling the financial pinch, so cheap is great! But you also need to think about value and quality, especially when you’re feeding a family.
So how does Dinnerly keep its prices so low?
The menu tends to lean towards comfort food like the Sticky Crispy Take-Out Chicken (pictured), a home-cooked version of General Tso’s chicken.
While the recipes tend to incorporate fewer ingredients, the quality is generally excellent (this meal kit includes just rice, scallions, chicken breast, and tamari and sweet chili sauces, for example), the quality is generally excellent, with sustainable proteins and even some organic fruits and vegetables.
Dinnerly also keeps prices down by limiting its use of paper and plastic. You won’t find physical recipe cards in your Dinnerly box, since all the instructions are online. And while many meal delivery services package each ingredient separately, Dinnerly bundles them together. This cuts costs and is much better for the environment.
But while it may cut corners on costs, Dinnerly still offers plenty of variety. The menu includes a good mix of meat, seafood, veggie, and kid-friendly options. Our reviewer noted that Dinnerly offers more menu choices than many of the pricier meal delivery services .
Dinnerly is owned by the same parent company as Marley Spoon, and uses the same labels. While the menu is slightly smaller, you’ll have the same degree of control over what you order. Dinnerly also has an Ingredient Hub you can check to see if your chosen meal has any allergens or ingredients you don’t want.
For a budget service, Dinnerly caters well to dietary accommodations, with a good selection for vegetarians and pescatarians. You’ll find around 10 vegetarian and 3 or 4 fish and seafood dishes on the menu each week.
Prices start at $2.12 per serving and you can order 3-6 meals for 2 or 4 people each week.

You may be thinking, “how do I decide between all of these options?” Here are the criteria I explored when compiling my list:
Find options that fit your schedule: I’ve included a mix of meal kits and prepared meals so you can choose a service that complements your level of cooking skill and the amount of time you have to spend in the kitchen.
Narrow down your dietary needs: From keto to vegan to weight-loss programs, there is a service on our list with a dedicated menu that makes it easy to stick to your diet. Check to see if that menu offers enough variety to keep you satisfied over the long term.
Select the best meal delivery option based on your budget: I have included services at various price points to cater to different budgets. Remember, if spending an additional $10 per week can make a significant difference between a service you love and one you merely tolerate, it's a worthwhile investment.
Consider the extras offered: Many of the best meal delivery services offer additional items like proteins, snacks, and grocery items to come with your order. This can save you trips to the grocery store and lets you stock up on items you regularly use.
I give Blue Apron my award for best meal delivery service in Phoenix, thanks to its wide-ranging menu and excellent selection of meals. While every service on this list has something to offer, most Phoenicians will be very pleased with Blue Apron’s meal kits, add-ons and Market selections.
Green Chef’s colourful menu of healthful fats, grass-fed proteins, fruits and vegetables make it the best choice for paleo meals in Phoenix. There are a number of healthy plans to choose from, including a keto plan that’s also certified gluten-free, while all the meals tend to be free of sugar and processed ingredients.
BistroMD’s flash-frozen prepared meals and specialized plans make it Phoenix’s best diet meal delivery service. It’s also one of the easiest to follow. Since BistroMD’s calorie-controlled meals are delivered to your door, there’s no need to track your food intake via apps or otherwise. You’ll also find plans for every kind of health concern.
Dinnerly is the most affordable meal delivery service in Phoenix, with prices as low as Price: Missing price for Product undefined per serving. Dinnerly gives you a selection of more than 45 meals each week, with a good mix of meat, seafood, veggie, and kid-friendly options.
