Full Health & Wellness: “Less Prescriptions, More Living!”

Dr. Tiffany Marie Hendricks is a double board-certified Lifestyle and Family Medicine physician dedicated to helping individuals live healthier lives with fewer prescriptions. Drawing from her extensive experience in private practice, urgent care, telemedicine, and virtual primary care across 40+ states, she has witnessed firsthand the gaps in healthcare—particularly the lack of education around prevention. Now a sought-after speaker, motivator, and entrepreneur, Dr. Tiffany Marie empowers others to reverse chronic diseases through natural, holistic methods and believes that a positive mindset is the foundation for true physical, mental, and financial well-being. DeliveryRank has the opportunity to learn more.

Dr. Tiffany Marie, you’ve made a powerful shift from traditional medicine to becoming a health and wellness speaker and entrepreneur, inspiring others to reverse chronic disease through natural methods. What motivated you to take that leap, and how has your belief in the power of mindset shaped both your approach to healing and your message to others?

To be honest, I got tired of just writing prescriptions. As a family medicine provider for 20 years treating babies to elderly, urgent care, and while doing virtual primary care across 48 states ( for the last 3 years) I watched the progression of "chronic " diseases start at an earlier age and worsen. I decided that I wanted more for myself and for my patients. I had a colleague who was board certified in Lifestyle Medicine, I decided to learn more and completed the requirements/ testing to become board certified as well. That opened my eyes to how powerful lifestyle changes are. I was taught to teach lifestyle changes first but over time medications took the first seat in my treatment plan. I had a few patients make lifestyle changes in my practice and we were both surprised because their results weren't the norm and I had lost hope. To be fair I wasn't taught much about nutrition in medical school  and I didn't know how to effectively coach my patients. I didn't have the time to help them due to managed care reimbursement constraints or tools to use outside of prescriptions to help. After Lifestyle medicine I pursued a certification in Metabolic Health Coaching with Insulin IQ. Under the teachings of world renowned professor and fat scientist Dr. Ben Bikman, I fell down the proverbial rabbit hole that led me here. We aren't bound by our genetics. Our lifestyle can set us free! Once I learned more, I had to share with everyone. I started using social media and any platform given to me to share that message.

Our power to change  starts first in our mindset. My mentor often says, " you are today what you thought yesterday and you will be tomorrow what you are thinking today". With lifestyle-caused conditions like Type 2 Diabetes, Hypertension, High Cholesterol, just to name a few, in order to break the carbohydrate and food addictions, start the exercise, manage the stress/ mental health and the sleep you have to intentionally replace them with something else entirely. That takes a mindset shift. You have to make new memories in some cases and over time that leads to better choices and sustainable lifestyle change. So just how Lifestyle medicine focuses on getting to the root cause of conditions, we have to engage the power of our mindset to get to the root cause of our decisions. Taking back that control allows us to reclaim control of our health.

Can you walk us through a patient case where you successfully transitioned them off long-term medications? What were the key lifestyle or nutritional changes that facilitated this transformation?

I worked with a busy mom with a full time career and home life who always struggled with her weight. She remembered being on a weight loss program when she was 13. She had a bad relationship with food. She had done all the things and tried every diet. She would lose weight but had a hard time keeping it off. She was a stress/ emotional / nostalgic eater. Her blood pressure had been creeping up for some time but she kept brushing it off until it hit the roof at her GYN visit. It was 200/100. She was having acute family stress at the time but that still was very alarming. She was started on Amlodipine. It helped for a while but she needed more and since she was nearing menopause Spironolactone was added too. Her blood pressure was better on the meds but she didn't want to be on them forever. She did the whole food plant based lifestyle for 6 months to help. She lost 30lbs but her blood pressure didn't improve. At age 46 she was definitely dealing with perimenopause. She had a strong family of T2DM, Cardiovascular disease and exhibited signs of insulin resistance. After 3 months, by prioritizing protein, incorporating fasting and the natural tools I use she was able to improve her blood pressure and not need her medications. She stopped having hot flashes and lost inches around her midsection. Using SMART goals she took back control of her health.

How do you design your coaching programs to foster sustainable change, and what metrics do you use to track client progress both short‑ and long-term?

I don't offer separate coaching  programs at this time. With the use of the natural tools, I incorporate the coaching as an added benefit for those who are interested. We use fasting apps, food tracking apps, body measurements, body composition scales to monitor short term progress as well as labs that my members get from their providers. I encourage all my members to stay connected with their providers for medication management, annual visits and labs. After they have reached their goals, I work with them on an as needed basis.

When confronting skepticism—whether from patients or the broader medical community—how do you balance scientific evidence with anecdotal results to effectively communicate benefits?

I don't have to balance scientific evidence with anecdotal results. I just rely on the science. There's data, peer reviewed, published studies, world renowned scientists whose work supports what I do. I lean into that first and foremost. The tools I use are in the Physicians' digital reference, patented and backed by clinical studies. When talking to my colleagues or others I explain the science behind the anecdotal results and what the studies suggest. At the end of the day, we all know we need to move more, eat less processed foods, de-stress, sleep better and manage our mental health to have better physical health. It's not rocket science. The nuances in how we help people accomplish that is where the real science lies.

How has media exposure shaped public understanding of medication side effects, and how do you ensure your messaging remains accurate and accessible across platforms?

I think media exposure has numbed the public to side effects. I made a post about a medication and it's serious side effects and one of the comments was " yeah I have that side effect  big deal". Oftentimes the side effects are accepted and the medications are taken blindly because the need for an easy fix wins. Bottom line, people are hurting and want to feel better. The current marketing strategy for medications is manipulating that. My intention is to educate so that people feel empowered to make informed decisions about their health. I base my posts on studies or science to stay as accurate as I can. I do my best to stay consistent with my posting across platforms and keep it accessible to all who want to hear. My members have access to more resources of course.

How do you integrate conventional medical practices with holistic, nutrition‑based interventions in your treatment plans, and how do you collaborate with other healthcare professionals in this regard?

I don't. I am no longer practicing medicine.I don't make changes to the treatment plan or prescribe any medications. I'm a media physician/ entrepreneur/speaker who empowers, educates and encourages people to practice lifestyle changes and take back control of their health using natural tools when needed. I teach them how to communicate their concerns , needs and symptoms to their providers. There are some great providers out there who are already working with their patients to de-prescribe medications. I am just complementing the awesome work they are doing.
