Green Chef makes it simple to part ways via the account settings (no need to call customer support). That’s even the case if you started your subscription via Green Chef’s special discount .
There are many reasons Green Chef might have stopped working for you. Maybe you haven’t found as many new favorite recipes as you’d hoped, or maybe you’re not sure if the high price is worth it. No matter what your reason for canceling, I’ll walk you through the whole process below.
If you’re looking for a replacement, Factor’s a great alternative. The service offers a selection of prepared meals. It also promotes healthy eating. Now, if you’re ready to break up with Green Chef, simply follow the steps below. And don’t worry, it’s easy to reactivate if you only want this to be temporary.
Sign in and open Account Settings – Sign in to your account on the Green Chef website and go to Account Info.
Select Cancel Subscription – Review the options offered by the website and confirm cancelation if you still want to move forward.
Fill out the quick survey – Green Chef likes to understand why customers are leaving, so you’ll be asked to fill in a quick survey.
Confirm your cancelation – You’ll get a final screen confirming your cancelation.
Find your next meal delivery service – Start looking for a new meal delivery service that best suits your needs. I recommend giving Factor a shot.
Canceling Green Chef is easy, but the process can be a bit lengthy. We recently went through the steps for our tried-and-rested review. To avoid additional charges, make sure you cancel before the cut-off time of 11:59 pm ET, 7 days before your next delivery day.
Here are the detailed steps for canceling your Green Chef subscription:
1. Sign in and open Account Settings – Sign into your account and open the drop-down menu on the top right of the screen. You’ll see the option for Account Info.
2. Select Cancel Subscription – Use the link at the bottom of the screen to indicate you want to cancel your current subscription.
2. a) Green Chef will take you to a screen with alternative subscription options in an attempt to convince you to stay. To move forward, simply confirm the cancelation. This action will take you to a new screen, where you’ll find Green Chef’s last attempt to change your mind.
2. b) Click on Continue with Cancelation to move on to the next step in the process.
3. Fill out the quick survey – Green Chef likes to understand why customers are leaving, so it can continue to improve and incorporate any feedback. You won’t be contacted about your answer, it’s simply to gather information.
4. Confirm your cancelation – You’ll get one final screen confirming your cancelation. There’s also a reminder that you can reactivate your account at any time by logging in and clicking the reactivation button.
Factor is a ready-made meal delivery service, which means no prep or cooking. Instead, you simply heat the meals in the microwave and enjoy them in minutes. The menu features about 35 new recipes each week, which is a bit less than Green Chef’s weekly menu selection of 45+ recipes.
Factor’s menu caters to several dietary needs, such as keto, high-protein, low-calorie, and vegetarian. Factor also offers a few vegan dishes and a couple of low-carb meals each week. Most of the meals range between 350 to 900 calories, but the average is 600 calories per serving.
Since Factor offers ready-made meals, there are no customization options. But, as our in-depth Factor review found, you don’t really need this feature. The menu is varied enough to cater to most customers’ tastes and preferences.
Prices start at $10.49 per serving, which is more affordable than Green Chef. And, to sweeten the deal, Factor offers discounts quite often – the current deal is: Starting at $130 off! Code: DELIVERY130.
With over 100 recipes and other menu items per week, HelloFresh’s menu contains something for everyone, though its menu is not as diet-specific as Green Chef’s. As we found in our tested HelloFresh review, the menu is incredibly varied, so it’s easy to find meals that fit your taste.
I also like that HelloFresh’s recipes are designed to fit a more general palate. I mean, even the pickiest eater in your family may come to appreciate recipes like One-Pan Santa Fe Turkey Tacos or Parmesan Chive Chicken & Potatoes.
Another thing that stands out is the customization option offered by HelloFresh. The option is called HelloCustom and lets you swap, change, or upgrade 12+ proteins and sides each week. This extends the menu even more since it gives you full control over what goes into your meals.
HelloFresh is pretty affordable, starting at $4.49 per serving. This is for the maximum size plan (6 meals for 4 people per week), and smaller orders cost more per serving. Besides being cheaper than Green Chef, it also lets you order more meals each week.
Home Chef's offers over 30 meal kits on its menu. Its Customize It feature allows you to tailor your protein choices to suit your taste preferences. Our tested review found this particularly beneficial for those who enjoy variety or have specific dietary needs. Unlike Green Chef, it provides a more personalized meal experience, ensuring you're never bored with your options.
Meals from Home Chef are designed for quick preparation. Most meals can be ready in about 30 minutes, arriving fresh at your doorstep. This is a significant advantage if you're seeking convenience without compromising on meal quality. Plus there are a range of Express recipes that take less than 15 minutes to prepare.
Pricing starts at $9.99 per serving on its larger plans. Additionally, Home Chef makes it easy to cancel your subscription, which is a relief if you’ve struggled with cancelation processes previously.
Blue Apron's menu includes meal kits with pre-portioned ingredients and ready-made meals. Each week, you can choose from 80+ recipes that cater to a more general palate.
You have the option to customize some meals by changing the protein or the side dish. But, as we found in our full-length review, make sure you pay attention to the price. Customizations come with upcharges, especially if your upgrades include organic ingredients.
Blue Apron uses quality ingredients from responsible suppliers and local farms. However, because there’s less focus on organic ingredients (which is Green Chef’s thing), the overall cost of the meals is lower. So if eating organic is not truly important to you, Blue Apron’s menu should be a great option.
Blue Apron's pricing, starting at $4.00 per serving, positions it as a more budget-friendly option compared to Green Chef. Its meal kits cater to different household sizes, allowing orders for either 2 or 4 people, while the ready-made meals are in single-serving format.

Canceling your Green Chef subscription is easy enough to do in a matter of minutes. You’ll have to click through a few pages of “Are You Sure?” messages, but the process is painless and doesn’t involve sending any emails or making any phone calls.
Green Chef is among the more premium-priced meal delivery services on the market. Luckily, we have a couple of alternatives to Green Chef that similarly offer healthy recipes and premium ingredients for a lower price.
The cut-off for canceling a Green Chef order is 7 days before your scheduled delivery. As long as you cancel the order before midnight on that day, you won’t be charged.
