Factor is a great choice if you couldn’t find meals suited to your diet with HelloFresh. With menus featuring options for keto, high-protein, vegetarian, vegan, and calorie-conscious diets, there's something for everyone. Our reviewer loved the selection but noted that the vegan options were limited.
Factor has an especially good selection of keto and high-protein meals. The Protein Plus meals contain over 30g of protein per serving, making them ideal for individuals focused on athletic performance, muscle building, or fat loss. Many Factor meals use low-carb alternatives like cauli-rice and zucchini noodles to help you stay in ketosis.
Prepared meals make this service extremely convenient. There’s no prep time or cooking required, as you simply heat the meals in the microwave or oven. Meals are delivered fresh – never frozen – in single-serving trays that stack nicely in your refrigerator.
You can also add extras to your weekly Factor box, including healthy drinks, snacks, and breakfast options. These add-ons can complement your diet and help you stay on track. Subscribers also get a free 20-minute virtual consultation with an in-house Factor dietitian who can provide personalized advice and guidance on weight loss, health management, or athletic performance.
Choose between Factor plans like Keto, Vegan and Veggie, or Protein Plus when signing up. This helps Factor recommend meals for your weekly selection. But whatever plan you sign up for, you can always choose from any item on the Factor menu.
Every week, you can order between 6 and 18 prepared single-serving meals. The price per serving starts at $6.19. While Factor is great for convenience and for meals catering to specialized diets, it is a good bit more expensive than HelloFresh.
Green Chef’s Calorie Smart plan is a great alternative to HelloFresh's, well, Calorie Smart meals. The plan goes beyond simply counting calories and incorporates holistic health principles. With nutritionist-designed recipes, Green Chef ensures that you can prioritize your well-being while enjoying organic yet delicious meals.
While the meals may sound intimidating, Green Chef’s detailed instructions and guidance are easy to follow. The clear directions make the cooking process enjoyable and stress-free. Even beginners can confidently follow along.
Menus feature an enticing range of international and American recipes, all made with top-quality ingredients. Ingredients are sourced responsibly, with non-GMO, sustainable seafood and meat free of antibiotics and hormones. By collaborating with family-run farms, farmlands, and craft economies, Green Chef is able to source local and seasonal ingredients for its meal kits.
For special occasions, you can elevate your dining experience by ordering Chef Select recipes that include creme de la creme ingredients.
Beyond the main meal kits, Green Chef's Add-Ons section provides additional options, such as breakfasts, desserts, beverages, and individual ready-to-cook proteins. You can also purchase ready-to-eat meals, such as Wild-Caught Tuna, or ready-to-heat options, like Mylk Labs Strawberry Oatmeal.
Our expert reviewer felt Green Chef was worth its premium price tag when they tried it at home. They reported that they could taste the difference thanks to Green Chef’s organic ingredients. To see if it’s worth it for your household, you can use our special deal to try Green Chef at a discount: Get $250 off + free shipping
Green Chef’s minimum order is 3 meals for 2 people per week (6 servings). You can order up to 4 meals for 6 (24 servings). And its prices start at a very reasonable $9.99 per serving considering the quality of its food.
Home Chef offers a wider range of options and customization features than HelloFresh. With its Customize It feature, you can easily swap proteins or upgrade to organic meat or vegetarian Impossible Burger. This is a great feature for those feeding fussy eaters, as you can tailor most meal kits to suit your preferences.
Home Chef offers a diverse selection of meal kits to suit every schedule. In addition to standard 30-minute kits, Home Chef goes the extra mile by providing low or no-prep options. Whether you're looking for 15-minute kits, oven- or grill-ready meals, Fast & Fresh prepared meals, or entree salads, Home Chef has you covered, especially on hectic nights when time is limited.
Our reviewer had a positive experience with Home Chef, even describing it as the best meal kit they've ever tested. The beginner-friendly instructions helped them develop new culinary skills and enjoy a variety of delicious meals at home.
The service’s Culinary Collection has premium options like Steakhouse Filet Mignon, while Express Plus meals use many of the same top-shelf ingredients but can be prepared in 30 minutes or less. Home Chef provides family-friendly meals, with the Family Meal tag indicating dishes that come in larger portions.
Home Chef also has a solid selection of vegetarian options, but it may not be a good fit for those on specialized diets like keto or vegan. The menu primarily features familiar American recipes like chicken, burgers, and pasta dishes. The Market also offers protein bundles, breakfast items, and desserts.
You can order as few as 2 Home Chef meals for 2, or as many as 6 meals for 6 every week. The cost per meal starts at $7.99 per serving.

You can cancel your HelloFresh subscription in just a few easy steps. HelloFresh is a “no commitment whatsoever” kind of company. The HelloFresh app and website make it easy to pause or cancel your subscription whenever you want.
Home Chef can work out cheaper than HelloFresh, especially for smaller order sizes. This is because Home Chef’s dishes are priced individually, while Home Chef’s prices vary depending on the size and number of meals you order per week.
You can submit a HelloFresh pause/cancel request at any time, but you must put in your request before 11:59 pm PST, five days before your next delivery. Otherwise, you’ll be charged for one more order.
