The Best Meal Delivery Services in Eugene Reviewed

1. Factor – Best Low-Effort Prepared Meals in Eugene

Factor's Stuffed Pepper Casserole

Key Features

Factor provides fully prepared meals that cater to several dietary restrictions. With an extensive menu (35+ dishes to choose from each week) and lots of culinary variety, the service is quite popular with both busy professionals and people on a specific diet.

What’s on the Menu?

The menu caters to many diets, including keto, high-protein, vegetarian, and plant-based. However, if you have gluten intolerance or allergies, then you might want to consider an alternative meal delivery company, as it can’t guarantee meals are 100% free of gluten. More about this in my colleague’s in-depth Factor review.

You can view menus up to 3 weeks in advance. This feature allows you to plan your meals with ease and ensures variety in your diet. Regularly updated with new dishes, the service keeps your dining experience exciting. Top-rated dishes like the Chicken & Mushroom Tetrazzini and Louisiana Shrimp highlight the quality and diversity of meals available, catering to a range of tastes and preferences.

Each item on the menu comes with a full list of ingredients and detailed nutritional information. This makes it easy for you to keep track of what you're eating. I like how prepared meals allow for precise calorie tracking.

What Makes It Special?

Factor also has add-ons like shakes, soups, snacks, juices, and wellness shots. These are perfect for anyone who wants an extra kick of health in their day-to-day diets. Overall, I think Factor is great if you don't want to (or can’t) cook but still want healthy options that cater to specific dietary needs!

Factor provides the opportunity to book a dietitian coaching session. This helps you select meals that align with your nutritional goals, lifestyle, and dietary requirements. Whether you're aiming for weight loss, muscle gain, or simply seeking to maintain a healthy diet, these sessions offer valuable guidance, making it easier to choose meals that are right for you.

Is It Good Value?

Factor's pricing starts at $10.49 per serving. This rate applies when you opt for the largest package, which includes 18 single-serving meals per week. It's an attractive option for those looking to maximize their value while ensuring they have a steady supply of healthy, ready-to-eat meals.

Add-ons with Factor are priced separately, providing an opportunity to customize your menu further. Whether you're craving a dessert, an extra protein, or a healthy snack, these add-ons let you tailor your meals to your liking, with costs varying depending on the item. Each order carries a shipping fee of $10.99, and Factor also offers a money-back guarantee.

2. Green Chef – Best for Eugeneans with Specific Dietary Needs

Green Chef's Southwest-Spiced Turkey Salad

Key Features

Green Chef offers 8 meal plans to suit different dietary restrictions. The plans cover diets such as plant-based, Mediterranean, and more. You can mix and match between plans, and you have a wide range of colorful tags to guide you through the menu.

What’s on the Menu?

The menu includes meal kits inspired by both American and international cuisine. This means you’ll have to do some ingredient prepping and cooking, but each recipe comes with easy-to-follow, chef-crafted recipe cards. During their in-depth review of Green Chef, my colleague found the meal kits easy to prepare and quite adventurous.

Green Chef's menu stands out for its diverse array of dishes, designed to cater to various tastes and dietary preferences. Among its offerings, the Chef Select meals represent premium options for those looking to indulge in gourmet, restaurant-quality dishes at home, such as the Creamy Tomato Shrimp & Bacon Linguine.

For individuals with a busy lifestyle seeking convenience without sacrificing taste, Green Chef also features meals that can be prepared in about 15 minutes, alongside 10-minute lunches like the Spiced Chickpea Grain Bowls with Schug & Feta. These options ensure that even on the busiest days, you can enjoy delicious, nutritious meals with minimal preparation time.

What Makes It Special?

The company is USDA-certified organic, although not all ingredients are organic. Most of the produce and eggs are certified organic, but you’ll be notified if some of the ingredients in your meal kit have to be replaced with conventional ones. The other ingredients, including the meat and fish, are all responsibly sourced and non-GMO.

Green Chef’s meal kits are crafted with balanced nutrients. Each dish contains just the right amount of protein, whole grains, and veggies. If you want a little bit more, there’s an entire Add-ons section to choose from.

Is It Good Value?

The Add-ons menu includes cooked protein, breakfasts, lunches, desserts, and more. However, Green Chef can be a little pricey, especially if you get add-ons with every order. They are priced separately from your weekly meal order, so it may not be sustainable for many budgets.

Green Chef is great for big families, as you can get between 2 and 4 servings for 2, 4, or 6 people. Prices start at $9.99 per serving for the maximum box size (4 meals for 6 people per week), and Green Chef often offers discounts, so keep your eyes open.

3. Blue Apron – Best Gourmet Meal Kit Delivery Service in Eugene

Blue Apron's Sweet & Spicy Pork Belly Fried Rice

Key Features

I love Blue Apron for its easy-to-make, gourmet meal kits and prepared meals. There’s a wide variety of unique recipes with flavor combinations you normally only find in a fancy restaurant.

What’s on the Menu?

Blue Apron’s menu includes classic American favorites and international flavors. The meal kits are accessible and easy to make, even if you're not an experienced cook. But if you prefer ready-to-eat dishes, opt for Prepared & Ready meals, which you can serve in minutes. You can find out more about this in our tested Blue Apron review.

Blue Apron has meals inspired by the healthy Mediterranean diet if you want to eat better. The Wellness plan, for instance, includes a mixture of balanced, nutritionist-approved recipes that fit both carb-conscious and low-calorie diets.

The service doesn’t cater to more specialized diets, like vegan. You may want to check out Green Chef for more vegan options. Blue Apron’s Veggies and Wellness menus have solid options for general dietary needs, though. Plus, you can find a small range of keto-friendly prepared meals on the prepared menu every week.

What Makes It Special?

The service has some great add-ons like appetizers, snacks, sides, and more. This even includes some microwavable lunches and dinners. I like to round out my meal kits and prepared meals for those extra-busy days.

Blue Apron’s app and easy-to-follow recipes make it easy for novice cooks to enjoy. Expand your repertoire with creative dishes like Chimichurri Salmon or Summer Vegetable Pesto Pasta.

Is It Good Value?

I think Blue Apron is an affordable service since its meals start at $3.74 per serving. You’ll pay a higher (but still reasonable) price for the minimum order of 2 meal kits per week for 2 people. The cost of Prepared & Ready meals is typically higher, but that’s the price you pay for convenience and time savings. You can order 4,6, 8, or 10 single-serving dishes.

Note that you’re free to add more meal kits and heat-and-eat options if you wish. If you'd like to order both kits and freshly prepared options, you'll need to place separate orders. Alternatively, switch between plans from 1 week to another.

4. HelloFresh – Best for Families in Eugene

HelloFresh's Vegan Street Cart-Style Chickpea Bowls

Key Features

  • Seasonal and sustainable ingredients

  • 100+ unique recipes per week

  • Dietary plans include vegetarian, pescatarian, and calorie smart

HelloFresh is a meal delivery service that can satisfy almost everyone's tastes. From dieters to families, busy professionals to grad students with limited kitchen space – everyone can find something on HelloFresh’s massive menu.

What’s on the Menu?

The menu includes a wide range of family-friendly dishes. Each recipe is thoroughly tested and kid-approved. This makes HelloFresh a great option for parents looking to feed picky eaters while still incorporating balanced meals into their routines.

There’s also a selection of internationally-inspired dishes for more adventurous palates. To make things easier, HelloFresh offers categories like Easy Prep and Easy Cleanup. So there are plenty of options when it comes to choosing meals that suit your needs. Discover more in our in-depth HelloFresh review.

HelloFresh's Hall of Fame features customer favorites like the Beef & Zucchini Bibimbap and Shrimp Pasta Primavera. These top-rated dishes showcase the service's focus on flavorful and easy-to-make options, appealing to diverse taste preferences with its popular recipes.

What Makes It Special?

One feature that really sets HelloFresh apart is its customizable options. With the HelloCustom option (not available for all recipes), you can swap out certain proteins or sides on many dishes, giving you even more variety in your meals.

Despite all this diversity, HelloFresh isn’t great for those with strict dietary restrictions or allergies. If that sounds like you, I recommend checking out a service like Green Chef, which has a wider selection of diet-specific meals.

Is It Good Value?

I think the customizable aspect and overall variety of HelloFresh make it a great option for families and couples. However, keep in mind that there’s an additional charge for swapping ingredients, so if you do it too much, your total may be a lot steeper than expected.

Prices start at $3.32 per serving for the maximum order, which is 6 meals for 4 people per week. But if you don’t want to order that much, HelloFresh recommends its most popular plan, which is 3 meals for 2 people per week.

5. Home Chef – Best Customizable Meal Delivery

Home Chef's Chicken and Feta Crema

Key Features

  • Many customization options with the Customize It tool

  • 30+ unique recipes each week, plus add-ons

  • Dietary options include vegetarian, calorie-conscious, and carb-conscious

As someone who loves trying out new meal delivery services, I was really impressed by Home Chef. The menu has an amazing variety of dishes to choose from and caters to all kinds of tastes and preferences, making it a real crowd-pleaser.

What’s on the Menu?

The service also offers a range of meal types, with something for every schedule. As well as its standard meal kits, look out for super-quick 15-Minute Meal Kits and Oven-Ready dishes that offer little-to-no prep. Then there’s the Culinary Collection for date nights and special occasions. Find out more about what our expert reviewer had to say.

I also like the extensive customization options, which allow you to tailor meals to your preferences. For instance, if you want your Argentinian Steak Flautas served with Impossible Burger instead of beef, you can! Home Chef’s Customize It feature allows diners to swap, upgrade, and even double-up on protein on many of its entrées.

Home Chef offers various low-calorie, low-carb, vegetarian, gluten-smart, and keto-friendly dishes. You can even find a couple of paleo-friendly recipes on the menu each week. However, when it comes to allergens and specific needs, Factor may be a better fit.

What Makes It Special?

Home Chef's family menu includes easy and tasty dishes like the One-Pot Creamy Italian Sausage Rigatoni and oven-ready Creamy Diced Chicken Alfredo. These meals are ideal for families seeking quick, delicious dinners with minimal prep work, catering to busy schedules while maintaining homemade meal quality.

I appreciate that Home Chef seems to be dedicated to eco-friendliness. The packaging for most items is recyclable or reusable, which is always a plus in my book. The service isn’t free of plastic – it uses it for portioned-out ingredients – I think it’s reasonable compared to some competitors.

Is It Good Value?

With prices starting at $7.99 per serving, Home Chef is quite affordable. Yet, it's important to note that each meal is individually priced, which means the final cost can vary based on the selections you make. The service's flexibility allows for customized dishes, but this can also lead to a higher price per meal.

Additional charges are applied for protein upgrades and selections from the Culinary Collection, Plus, or Family options. These premium choices enhance the dining experience but come at an extra cost. Moreover, every order includes a shipping fee of $10.99, which is added to the total cost of the meal plan.

6. Fresh and Easy – Best Meal Kit Service for Busy Eugeneans

Fresh and Easy's Florentine-Style Chicken and Tomato Penne

Key Features

  • Home Chef’s line of easy-prep meal kits

  • Access to the entire Home Chef menu

  • Dietary options include calorie-conscious, carb-conscious, and more

Fresh and Easy by Home Chef is perfect for busy people. It offers up 20+ weekly low-prep recipes that can be customized to your liking. What I enjoyed most was how simple everything was to prepare.

What’s on the Menu?

There’s no need for much chopping or peeling, so you won’t spend hours in the kitchen. According to my colleague’s detailed Fresh and Easy review, these recipes are specifically designed for people who don’t have a lot of time on their hands but still want a nutritious home-cooked meal.

I was really impressed by the range of meal types. There are Fast and Fresh meals that can be heated in minutes, Oven- and Grill-ready dishes that just need a little assembly, Express kits for those who want the experience of cooking without all the effort, and entrée salads. There are also plenty of prepared extras (available on the Home Chef core menu), like desserts and bread, to choose from.

You also have access to the Home Chef's market, where you can purchase a variety of additional items. This includes prepared lunches, fresh salads, delectable desserts, and protein packs, providing a comprehensive solution for meals throughout the day. Opting for these ready-to-eat options not only cuts down on cooking time but also significantly reduces the need for grocery shopping.

What Makes It Special?

Fresh and Easy also has access to Home Chef’s Customize It feature, which is great if you have specific dietary requirements or preferences. However, keep in mind that the option isn’t available for every meal type.

The only downside I found was that Fresh and Easy doesn’t cater well to vegans. While there were some vegan options available when I tried it out last week, most meals weren’t suitable for such diets. Aside from that, though, I thought Fresh and Easy was well worth trying out – especially if you're looking for something easy and quick to prepare on busy weeknights.

Is It Good Value?

Fresh and Easy uses the same pricing strategy and discount structure as Home Chef, making it a convenient choice for budget-conscious diners. Prices begin at $7.99 per serving for those who opt for the largest order size, which is 6 meals per week for 6 people. This competitive pricing ensures that enjoying high-quality meals at home remains accessible.

The flexibility in order sizes, ranging from meals for 2, 4, or 6 people, caters to households of various sizes. Whether you need meals for a couple or a larger family, Fresh and Easy accommodates between 2 and 6 people, offering versatility and ensuring that every household can benefit from its quick and easy meal kits.

7. BistroMD – Great for Specialized Diets

BistroMD's Chicken, Rice and Cheddar Casserole

Key Features

  • Weight loss meal plans designed by a doctor

  • 150 meals and snacks

  • 7 dietary options, including vegan, gluten-free, and keto

BistroMD claims to help you lose weight while still getting to enjoy delicious meals. I’ll be honest; at first, I thought it sounded too good to be true. However, my colleague tried BistroMD and was impressed. Based on reviews from other customers and my own observations, I can confidently say that BistroMD lives up to its promise.

What’s on the Menu?

The meals are created by a doctor in collaboration with registered dietitians. However, they’re also prepared by professional chefs to ensure the quality of each dish. Plus, the flavor and taste are impressive, because these meals arrive frozen at your doorstep.

The variety on the menu is pretty great, with over 150 chef-prepared entrees available. BistroMD also has a newer Vegan program, which extends its reach to people on a plant-based diet. Of course, meat eaters also have plenty of meat and fish options.

BistroMD offers 7 meal plans, each dedicated to a specific dietary need. As such, there are 2 weight loss plans (1 for women and 1 for men), a gluten-free option designed specifically for those with celiac disease or digestive sensitivities, a heart-healthy program with meals that contain less than 600 mg sodium per serving, and several others.

What Makes It Special?

But what really sets BistroMD apart is the focus on nutrition. Each meal contains high protein and low glycemic index carbohydrates for sustained energy throughout the day. Plus, there’s enough culinary variety, so you won’t get bored easily.

My only gripe with BistroMD is that you can't customize your meals. You can change meals in the pre-defined menu, but you don’t have access to the entire menu. Once you choose a program, you can only select the meals that fit that program’s dietary restrictions.

Is It Good Value?

Prices start from $8.24 per serving for the largest plan size of 7 breakfasts, 7 lunches, and 6 dinners per week. Families or couples living together can enjoy a 15% discount on their orders after taking advantage of the initial first-week discount. This offer makes it more affordable for households to enjoy weight-loss meals together.

I like that there's also a 5-day plan available that includes only lunches and dinners. This option suits individuals or families looking for convenient meal solutions during the workweek. Additionally, all plans are subject to a shipping fee of $19.95 per week.

8. Marley Spoon – Great for Variety and Sustainability

Marley Spoon's One-Pot Iraqi Chicken & Rice Bake

Key Features

  • Plenty of kid-friendly options

  • 100+ weekly delicious recipes

  • Dietary options include low-calorie, low-carb, dairy-free, and more

Marley Spoon is 1 of the easiest meal delivery services. The company delivers perfectly portioned ingredients and fun, 6-step recipes with well-detailed recipe cards included. Plus, with such an extensive menu (over 100 options), there’s room for plenty of culinary diversity.

What’s on the Menu?

The menu features a variety of cuisines, including classic American dishes as well as Mexican, Mediterranean, and Korean cuisines. Read more about the menu in my colleague’s dedicated Marley Spoon review.

Marley Spoon gives you a great way to get meals on the table in 30 minutes, and it’ll even teach you some new skills in the kitchen. With a little practice, you could whip up meals such as Coffee Rubbed Steak & Homemade Chimichurri with Zucchini Corn Agrodolce or Indian Butter Chicken in no time.

I think it’s a great service for families, thanks to the wide range of kid-friendly dishes. Recipes like Turkey Chili with Crispy Tortillas or Oven-Fried Beef Taquitos are major crowd-pleasers, and kids love them!

What Makes It Special?

Marley Spoon’s tags help you find the meals you want, which is convenient since it has such a massive menu. You can filter the menu by dietary needs (such as vegetarian, vegan, low-calorie, and low-carb) or by prep time – look for tags like Under 30 Minutes and One Pot Meal.

Marley Spoon also offers premium meals and customization options. This gives you flexibility when it comes to what ingredients will be added to your box. However, most customizations and premium meals come with an extra charge, so keep your eyes on the price.

Is It Good Value?

Prices start at $2.99 per serving for the largest order (6 meals for 4 people per week). This cost-effective rate makes the service accessible, even for smaller orders, ensuring a broad range of customers can enjoy the offerings without a significant financial burden.

While the recipes require additional pantry staples and some may appear more complex than the advertised 6 steps, the overall convenience and variety remain appealing. For simpler, more family-friendly meal solutions, HelloFresh is an alternative I recommend.

9. Purple Carrot – Great for Plant-Based and Vegan Options

Purple Carrot's Cumin Spiced Broccolini Ciabatta

Key Features

  • High-quality, plant-based ingredients and clever recipes

  • 35+ delicious recipes each week and add-ons

  • Dietary options include soy-free, low-calorie, dairy-free, and so on

If you’re 1 of Eugene’s many vegans, you’ll love Purple Carrot’s plant-based offerings. Purple Carrot features 1 of the most complex and well-designed 100% plant-based menus on the market, with options for high-protein, nut-free, or gluten-free meals.

What’s on the Menu?

Even if you’re not vegan, you’ll find a lot to love about Purple Carrot. This service makes veggies delicious with tantalizing international flavors, including Refried Butternut Tacos with Grape Salad and Slaw or Black Sesame Gnocchi. Read our tried-and-tested Purple Carrot review for more information.

I appreciated the quality of the ingredients on Purple Carrot's menu. Most other veg-friendly meal kits tend to rely heavily on imitation meats and cheese substitutes to fill out their dishes. Instead, Purple Carrot uses fresh vegetables and internationally-inspired recipes to make unique vegan dishes.

Each week, Purple Carrot not only features a diverse selection of meal kit entrées but also offers convenient microwavable prepared meals for those times when cooking isn’t an option. In addition to these main dishes, the service allows you to enhance your order by adding a variety of breakfast items, lunch options, and snacks.

What Makes It Special?

I was also impressed by the quality of the ingredients Purple Carrot provides. Every fruit and vegetable has to be at peak freshness and ripeness (no wilted spinach or rock-hard avocados will find their way into your meal kits).

The service believes that food is medicine and strives to provide healthy meals. The plant-based recipes are generally quite healthy but not explicitly designed for weight loss. Check out Factor for nutritionist-designed meals with and without meat.

Is It Good Value?

Purple Carrot’s meal kits start at $8.50 per serving, and you can order 3 or 4 meals for 2 or 4 people each week. This makes plant-based eating more accessible and convenient. Purple Carrot provides prepared meals at a fixed price of $13.00 per serving. Options include ordering 6, 8, or 10 single-serving meals per week.

I like that you can mix and match meal kits with prepared meals to suit your needs, with shipping costs set at $10 for orders under $99.

10. Dinnerly – Best for Eugeneans on a Budget

Dinnerly's Teriyaki-Glazed Turkey Meatballs

Key Features

  • Simple, easy-to-make recipes

  • 100+ meal kit entrees each week

  • Dietary options include low-calorie, low-carb, kid-friendly, and more

Dinnerly is a budget-friendly meal delivery service. Our expert Dinnerly reviewer found the level of quality and care that goes into preparing these meal kits surprising considering the affordable pricing. Its meal kits are well-crafted and made with high-quality ingredients.

What’s on the Menu?

Dinnerly has a massive menu of over 100 food items that change each week. The good news is that there is plenty of variety, and most dieters can find something to their liking. However, most recipes are overly basic, with very few ingredients (maximum of 6 ingredients per recipe).

The menu has a healthy balance of American staples and internationally-inspired options. It’s not uncommon to see the Cheesy Juicy Lucy Burger alongside Brown Butter Asparagus-Gruyère Ravioli. Dinnerly also offers extra items like breakfasts, desserts, and even microwavable prepared meals for ultra-easy lunches.

Dinnerly uses high-quality ingredients sourced from trusted suppliers, including antibiotic-free chicken and grass-fed beef. To keep prices low, however, the service doesn’t have many options for specialized diets like keto, paleo, or vegan. There are a couple of options each week, but check out other services like Purple Carrot for fully diet-friendly menus.

What Makes It Special?

It also offers a number of customizable dishes each week (around 40+). For an extra fee (which varies), you can do things like add meat to vegetarian dishes or swap in brown rice for regular rice. Some dishes even offer multiple protein options or plant-based alternatives.

Dinnerly adopts a minimal packaging approach, setting it apart from more expensive meal delivery services that tend to separate the ingredients by recipe. This streamlined strategy not only reduces waste but also resonates with my preference for simplicity. This approach underlines Dinnerly's commitment to sustainability.

Is It Good Value?

Dinnerly is easily the least expensive service on my list, with prices starting at $2.12 per serving. Additionally, the menu features Saver recipes, designed to offer even more value. You have the flexibility to order for either 2 or 4 people, choosing from 2 to 6 meals per week, accommodating a variety of meal planning needs.

While Dinnerly offers exceptional value and versatility, it's particularly well-suited for those without strict dietary restrictions. Its focus on simplicity and affordability makes it an excellent choice for individuals and families looking for convenient, budget-friendly meal solutions.
