9 Best Macro Meal Delivery Services 2023: Fine-Tuned Diets

Today’s dieting is all about keeping a calorie deficit and tracking your macronutrient intake. And while these methods do show results, it’s a pain to organize and manage. But things get a lot easier if you choose a meal delivery service that clearly labels macros for each recipe.

Since I know not all meal delivery services will bother to add macros on the label, I did a bit of digging and found the ones that offer detailed nutritional information about the content of carbs, protein, and fats in each meal.

I think Factor does it best, as you get prepared meals designed by dietitians and an add-on menu that includes smoothies and juices. Plus, it’s easy to find recipes that fit your macro needs. But you don’t have to agree with me from the start. Keep reading to see which are the best macro meal delivery services on the market!

Short on Time? Here Are the Best Macro Meal Delivery Services

  1. Factor – Best health-focused ready-made meals

  2. BistroMD – Great for healthy weight loss meal plans

  3. Trifecta – Best dietitian-designed meals for weight loss

  4. Fresh N Lean – Best meal variety for multiple diets

The Best Macro Meal Delivery Services Reviewed

1. Factor – Best Health-Focused Ready-Made Meals

Factor's Spicy Poblano Beef Bowl

With 46g of fat and 27g of protein, this Spicy Poblano Beef Bowl is perfect for keto dieters who enjoy a bit of kick in their food

Key Features

  • Delivered fresh, never frozen

  • 35 unique recipes per week

  • Dietary options include vegetarian, calorie-smart, keto, high-protein, and vegan

  • Current deal: Up to $276 off!

Factor’s menu and meal plans are health-focused, even though the service doesn’t make any weight loss or fitness promises. All the recipes are formulated with the help of a registered dietitian and cooked by professional chefs, so each meal is packed with science-backed nutritional quality.

The menu includes dishes from various international cuisines, such as Indian, Mediterranean, Indonesian, Thai, and Mexican. Of course, you’ll have your fair share of good-old American recipes, like Ground Pork and Cheddar Chili Mac or Buffalo Chicken Breast.

If you’re looking for something a bit fancier, each week, there are 3 Gourmet Plus meals cooked with premium ingredients, like mahi mahi or filet mignon. However, make sure to pay attention to the final cost of your order since these meals come with an upcharge.

If Gourmet Plus meals are too pricey, you have an extensive selection of add-ons to try. According to my colleague’s impressive Factor review, the add-ons menu includes options for breakfast, lunch, snacks, and desserts. Breakfast options include pancakes, smoothies, egg bites, oats, and bacon and eggs. Lunch options include salads, wraps, casseroles, and cooked proteins. Snack options include granola, trail mix, jerky, and nuts.

You can see the macro content (fats, carbs, protein) and calories for each recipe, but only once you click on it (this information isn’t visible while browsing the menu). You also get information on sugar, salt, fiber, and cholesterol content. Plus, you can book a free 20-minute virtual nutrition coaching session with 1 of Factor’s experts to talk about your concerns or ask for help with your personalized dietary goals.

Factor’s menu combines home-cooked meals and diet-specific recipes, like keto, vegan, or high-protein. This way, you can try Factor’s delicious gourmet meals even when you’re not on a highly restrictive diet. So, you can enjoy Factor meals whenever you don’t feel like shopping for ingredients or cooking.

Factor also makes an effort to reduce its impact on the environment by packing your meals in cardboard boxes and cooling everything with recyclable insulation layers. Plus, the BPA-free plastic containers and bottles (from smoothies and juices) are also recyclable or reusable.

All the meals are single-serving, and you can order up to 18 meals per week (at $6.19 per serving), which is quite impressive. This means that Factor works whether you’re single, a couple, or a large family. However, if you choose smaller shipments, the price per serving is quite steep. Add to this the standard shipping fee of $10.99, and you may end up paying around $90 per week for the minimum order of 6 meals.

2. BistroMD – Great for Healthy Weight Loss Meal Plans

BistroMD's Turkey Breast with Cranberry Apple Chutney

The Turkey Breast with Cranberry Apple Chutney recipe is a refreshingly light (310 cal/serving) diabetic-friendly meal (36g protein, 30g carbs, and 5g of fat)

Key Features

BistroMD has a wide range of programs and meal plans that fit diet-specific needs. This is why I think the service can help anyone kick start their healthy weight loss journey. Also, I was quite impressed to see that there are separate programs for men and women. Plus, you have access to reliable resources, information, and expert dietitians (via email).

I like that the menu includes options for breakfast, lunch, dinner, and snacks. This way, you don’t have to worry about food or portion control at all. Each recipe gives you a nice graphic representation of calories and macros once you click on it.

The menu is well-balanced when it comes to variety, with meals from world-famous cuisines like Italian, Mexican, Asian, and French. Of course, most of the meals are designed to fit an American palate. For a better feel of the menu and meal plans, check out my colleague’s well-researched BistroMD review.

The ingredients used to cook the meals are always high-quality and seasonal to ensure maximum freshness and nutritional content. All the dishes prepared in BistroMD’s kitchen are free of trans fats, MSG, nitrates, artificial coloring, or artificial sweeteners. Plus, each meal is flash-frozen and vacuum-sealed right after being hand-prepared by BistroMD’s chefs to preserve taste and texture until you’re ready to enjoy them.

While there are a few kid-friendly meals, BistroMD is more of an individual plan. The meals are all single-serving and designed to fit an adult’s nutritional needs. Plus, all the meal plans focus on weight loss and well-being, which are highly personal goals.

BistroMD also provides a wide range of resources to help you understand its meal plans. For instance, if you’re just starting and don’t know which programs work for you, there’s a quiz you can take. Of course, you can always take advantage of BistroMD’s varied programs and try the most appealing ones. You have plenty of options, and all are geared toward healthy eating that supports an active lifestyle.

To order, you can choose from over 150 delicious chef-prepared meals that can be ready to eat in 5 minutes or less. Starting at $8.24 per serving for a full 7-day program (which includes 7 breakfasts, 7 lunches, and 7 dinners), you can’t say BistroMD is a low-cost service. Of course, prices get a bit steeper if you order the minimum amount, which is Lunches & Dinners for 5 days.

3. Trifecta – Best Dietitian-Designed Meals for Weight Loss

Trifecta's Beef Patty, Sweet Potato, Mixed Vegetables Meal

The Beef Patty, Sweet Potato, Vegetables mix has a high protein content (31g), but it's light (397 cal/serving) and nourishing

Key Features

Trifecta is a meal delivery service that’s supportive of your weight loss and fitness plans. So, if you’re struggling with your current weight loss journey, it may help to try 1 of the Trifecta programs. All the recipes are formulated by dietitians and include fresh ingredients, the highest-quality organic produce, and humanely raised clean proteins. Also, most of the dishes available on the Trifecta menu are free from gluten, dairy, and soy.

Moreover, all the dishes are calorie and portion controlled to fit your diet’s needs. However, since Trifecta’s main goal is weight loss and fitness, the menu doesn’t include any gourmet meals. Most recipes are a combination of lean meats, whole grains, and seasonable vegetables, so most of the variety comes from how the chefs choose to combine these 3 elements.

Also, keep in mind that the pre-defined meal plans are the chef’s choice. This means that a Trifecta chef will use your preferences (you can exclude 2 ingredients) and selected diet to design a personalized weekly meal plan.

Trifecta has pre-defined meal plans for a handful of well-known diets, but you can still get all the benefits even if you don’t have specific dietary needs by choosing from the Meal Prep and Classics sections of the menu. The Classics section includes 9 options of ready-made meals, while the Meal Prep section has cooked proteins, carbs, and veggies, and you can mix and match to create your own meals.

Each recipe provides a detailed view of its macro and calorie content, which is extremely helpful if you’re monitoring your food intake. Also, according to our in-depth Trifecta review, the company’s main goal is to help customers live healthier lives and reach their fitness goals. And, if you follow 1 of the 6 meal plans, chances are you’ll succeed.

Through the Trifecta app, you can track food intake, workouts, and progress. Furthermore, you’ll have access to workout plans and free coaching from a trained nutritionist. Lastly, the app connects you with other people on a similar journey for a bit of extra support.

The cost depends on the plan you choose and the number of meals you want per week. For instance, Vegan and Vegetarian meal plans have a lower cost than plans containing meat, but the difference isn’t that big.

Overall, Trifecta isn’t a budget-friendly service. The price per serving ($6.00) is pretty steep even when you opt for the maximum order (14 entrees and 7 breakfasts). Things get even pricier for the minimum order (7 entrees per week), but if you can afford it, Trifecta is a great service for people on a diet.

4. Fresh N Lean – Best Meal Variety for Multiple Diets

Fresh N Lean's Vegan Tofu Buddha Bowl

The Vegan Tofu Buddha Bowl dish is rich in protein (23g) and light in calories (430 cal/serving)

Key Features

  • Chef-cooked, organically sourced meals

  • 100+ unique recipes per week + snacks

  • 7 dietary options including Mediterranean, paleo, vegetarian, and more

Fresh N Lean has 7 well-designed meal plans that cater to multiple diets (such as keto, paleo, high-protein, or Mediterranean). The dishes are made with organic, locally-sourced ingredients, and all animal products meet the highest standards in sustainability and animal welfare. All these fit the Fresh N Lean food philosophy, which is about making healthy eating accessible to everyone.

Each recipe contains detailed information on protein, carbs, fat, and calories, making it easier to keep track. First, you see the information on protein and carbs (directly above the recipe’s name), but if you click on the recipe, you’ll get a graphic representation of the macro and calorie content, plus the type of protein (which is quite a neat feature, if you ask me).

I love that there are 2 well-stocked vegan plans (Vegan Standard and Vegan Low Carb). Unlike Factor or Trifecta, Fresh N Lean makes it easier for vegans and vegetarians to enjoy delicious and healthy meals. My colleague’s Fresh N Lean review will provide more details on meal plans.

All the Fresh N Lean meals are gluten-free, and 3 meal plans are dairy-free. Also, you don’t have to worry about cross-contamination. Fresh N Lean implements a series of food safety HACCP programs, allergen controls, and processes to avoid such a situation. For instance, Vegan meals are prepared on separate shifts than other meal plans, and the entire cooking facility is gluten-free. Moreover, the dishes are also GMO-free, and all the animal products are antibiotic and hormone-free.

Even though these are ready-made meals, there are some customization options. While ordering, you can exclude up to 3 ingredients you don’t like and identify allergens like egg, sesame, tree nut, soy, and more. And you can consider each of these recipes as being low sodium since most contain 140 mg of sodium or less per 100 g of the meal.

Fresh N Lean’s single-serving meals are big enough to feed 1 adult in 1 sitting, so the service works best for singles and couples. You can order the full plan, which includes breakfast, lunch, and dinner for 7 days, or just breakfasts for 5 days. For a 7-day full plan, the price per serving starts at $7.53, which is quite acceptable. However, keep in mind that the Protein+ and Mediterranean meal plans are the most expensive, while the Vegan plans are a bit lower in cost.

5. Pete’s Real Food – Great for Paleo Dieters, Vegans, and More

Pete’s Real Food recipe of Italian Chicken with Roasted Cauliflower and Butternut Squash

At 420 cal and 42g of protein per serving, the Italian Chicken with Roasted Cauliflower and Butternut Squash is a great lunch or dinner option!

Key Features

  • Seasonal ingredients

  • 44+ recipes per week

  • Dietary options include paleo, keto, gluten-free, and vegan

Pete's Real Food caters to diets such as paleo, keto, gluten-free, vegan, and AIP-friendly, so it's a good option for a wide range of dieters. Plus, the menu includes kid-friendly meals that even the picky eaters out there will enjoy. Moreover, the dishes on the kid-friendly menu are smaller in size (7-8oz as opposed to 11.5oz for keto and AIP diets and 12oz for vegan foods), so it also fits anyone who’s not a big eater.

All the meals are gluten-, dairy-, and GMO-free, which is great news for allergy sufferers. Plus, you can choose to remove pork as an ingredient from your menu when placing an order (only for lunches and dinners, though). The menu changes every week, and the dishes only include seasonal ingredients to maximize the taste and nutrient intake.

The cuisine is mostly American, but there are a few international influences, such as Caribbean, Mediterranean, and Mexican. This way, Pete’s Real Food makes sure your menu stays varied even when you’re dieting. For instance, if you follow the Paleo diet, your weekly menu can include recipes like Southwest Skillet, Beef Gyro with Tzatziki Sauce, Cauliflower Rice, and Potatoes, and Chipotle Lime Carne Asada with Sauteed Spinach and Oven Roasted Tomatoes.

But when it comes to flavor and nutrition, Pete’s Real Food goes a step further. The chefs use a combination of cooking techniques, like braising, brining, smoking, and roasting, to keep the menu interesting and provide customers with a wide range of flavors and textures. Also, according to my colleague’s in-depth review, Pete’s Real Food only includes seasonally fresh veggies and humanely sourced meats.

Each recipe is clearly labeled with the calorie content and macros content. You get options for breakfast, lunch, and dinner. I like that everything, including the sauces, is made from scratch to avoid unwanted preservatives and fillers in your meals.

What’s great about this service is that you can let the chefs choose your meals. However, this option is only available with the Paleo meal plans. For anything else (keto or vegan), you have to order A la Carte.

The minimum order is 5 meals (there’s no upper limit), and you can adjust the delivery frequency (between 1 and 4 weeks). Lastly, prices start at $15.25 per serving and can go as high as $19 per serving, which is pretty steep.

6. Muscle Meals 2 Go – Great for Shaping Your Muscles

Muscle Meals 2 Go's Sticky Chicken recipe

When you want a meal that's high in protein (39g) and low in calories (370 cal), try this Sticky Chicken recipe.

Key Features

  • Meals are vacuum sealed to lock in freshness

  • 20+ unique recipes per week + snacks

  • 6 dietary options including gluten-free, keto, and low carb

Muscle Meals 2 Go knows you can’t build lean, strong muscles without proper nutrition. Whether you want to gain or maintain your current muscle build, you need nutritious food designed to help you reach your fitness goal. Plus, you need food that fits your goal, which is why Muscle Meals 2 Go has 4 main meal plans: Train Meal Plan, Gain Meal Plan, Low Carb Meal Plan (includes keto meals), and Lean Meal Plan.

If you choose a meal plan, your weekly recipes will be selected by the chefs, who will create a personalized menu based on your specifications. Muscle Meals 2 Go lets you specify 3 allergens (gluten, nuts, and lactose) and remove up to 5 proteins (chicken, pork, turkey, salmon, or beef). If you want to choose your meals, you can also order A la Carte. The menu offers a good variety of breakfast, lunch, dinner, and healthy dessert options.

Most entrees include lean protein ( 90% lean or greater), complex carbs, and veggies. This way, all the recipes are well-balanced in terms of macronutrients and calories, and you can choose the meals that best suit your dietary needs (if you order A la Carte). I can’t say there’s much culinary variety, but the meals are delicious. Recipes like Turkey Bacon and Potato Frittata (great for breakfast) and Thai Peanut Chicken (great for a low-carb dinner or lunch) are nutrient-dense and fit most people’s taste.

To spot the number of calories and macro content, you have to click on the recipe, but keep in mind that Muscle Meals 2 Go doesn’t go by the 1 size fits all method. You have several size options, such as Standard, Extra Protein, or By The Pound (depending on the type of meal).

If you choose a meal plan, you can order 10, 18, or 24 single-serving meals per week, with the option to add breakfast and snacks. Prices start at $11.58 per serving and vary depending on the meal plan and the number of servings.

7. Splendid Spoon– Great for Gluten-Free Dieters

Splendid Spoon's Creamy Korma Dish with basmati rice & fried tofu

Packing 40g of carbs and 12g of protein, the Creamy Korma Dish is the perfect healthy alternative to restaurant Indian food

Key Features

  • 95% of smoothies and wellness shots are organic

  • 60+ recipes plus extras

  • Dietary options include vegan, vegetarian, gluten-free, and dairy-free

Splendid Spoon is a great option for people who have a gluten or dairy sensitivity since the entire menu is dairy- and gluten-free. Moreover, all the dishes are vegan, have a lower sodium content, and don’t include any artificial sweeteners.

To avoid cross-contamination, the chefs follow a strict protocol, and the cooking facilities are inspected and tested regularly. This means that even people with celiac disease or gluten sensitivity can enjoy these meals.

The menu is impressively well-balanced for being 100% plant-based. There are options for breakfast (smoothies), lunch and dinner (noodle bowls, dishes, and soups and grain bowls), plus extras (cold-pressed juices). For more on supported diets, check out my colleague’s well-researched Splendid Spoon review.

You have easy access to the calorie content and a detailed macro list for each meal, but you have to open each recipe and click on nutritional facts to find the info. Plus, you have a very helpful filters section that helps you organize the menu based on your dietary preferences. There’s an entire list of avoidances you can use to make sure you only see the meals that fit your criteria.

Every dish comes in its own container, so there’s little to no prep and cleanup. Just follow the instructions, and you’ll have a delicious, plant-based, ready-to-eat meal in under 5 minutes (for microwave) or around 10 minutes (for oven or stovetop).

Overall, Splendid Spoon isn’t just for those who want to try out a gluten-free diet; it also has options for plant-based and dairy-free diets out there. Plus, prices start at $6.50 per serving for the Breakfast, Lunch, and Dinner combo (21 meals per box).

Other options include Breakfast + Lunch (14 meals), Lunch, and Breakfast. The last two options include 7 meals each – 7 protein-packed smoothies for the Breakfast option and 7 veggie-filled bowls for the Lunch option.

8. MealPro – Great for Dieters with Highly Specific Needs

MealPro's Atlantic salmon with green beans, yams, and steamed rice

Designed for a Bodybuilding diet, this Atlantic Salmon meal with rice and veggies has 1000 cal/serving and 56g of protein

Key Features

  • You can create meals from scratch

  • 33 recipes for A la Carte orders or 20 meals per meal plan

  • Dietary options include several medical conditions, keto, and bodybuilding

MealPro is all about high-quality ready-made meals that fit your dietary needs. If you’re working toward a specific goal, you have the Keto and Bodybuilding (high calorie, high protein recipes) meal plans, and if you’re trying to deal with some specific dietary needs, you have the Medical meal plans.

MealPro offers a wide range of science-backed meal plans designed in collaboration with doctors and dietitians to provide just the right kind of nutrition. There’s a diabetic-friendly meal plan, 1 designed for heart health, and several designed for people with renal problems (to name a few). Moreover, if you’re not sure which one’s your best fit, you can test a few meals from the A la Carte menu.

Each recipe displays the number of calories and the macronutrients, so it’s easy to choose the ones you want. According to MealPro, the key to delicious, healthy foods is the balance of macronutrients, but if you want to push things even further, you also need high amounts of micronutrients (vitamins and minerals) in every dish. To do this, MealPro only uses fresh and high-quality ingredients due to its farm-to-fork supply chain system. This way, MealPro sources food directly from growers who use sustainable practices.

MealPro’s single-serving dishes arrive at your door fully cooked, ready to be consumed. To maintain freshness, each food container is vacuum sealed (the meals are never frozen for transport). Moreover, each meal comes in a microwave-safe food container so that you can eliminate any prep or cleanup. Also, most of the packaging materials, including food containers, are recyclable.

While you can opt for recurring delivery, MealPro doesn’t offer a classic subscription. When placing an order, you can choose between 2 box sizes: 18 meals and 20 meals per box. If you choose the 20 meals box, you get free delivery for the Pacific and neighboring states and a discount on delivery for the other states.

The price per serving starts at $6.99, but it will vary depending on a series of factors, like the type of protein, whether you choose to add extra protein or a side dish, and so on. The great thing is that you see how your options affect the price per serving in real-time, which helps to make an informed decision.

9. Ice Age Meals – Great for Paleo and Keto Dieters

Tips for Choosing the Best Macro Meal Delivery Service

Most meal delivery services will provide some sort of nutritional info, but the focus is always on caloric content. This doesn’t help much if your diet is based on macronutrient tracking, so here are a few tips to help you find the right companies for your needs:

  • Detailed info on macronutrients: You should be able to see the amount of protein, fats, and carbs for each recipe right away. Also, look for services that provide in-depth nutritional information once you click on a recipe.

  • Good support for specific diets: There should be enough diversity and menu options for several specific diets. This way, you know the service can support your needs in the long term.

  • Recipies developed by a registered dietitian: Specific diets have specific macro and caloric needs, but the food still needs to be health-focused and rich in nutrients. This is where the expertise of a registered dietitian comes in handy.

  • Diet-related perks: Many meal delivery services that focus on dieting have extra features such as a macro tracking app, a reliable community, or one-on-one consultations with a dietitian or fitness expert.
