Blue Apron is the best overall meal delivery service in St. Petersburg. I decided to choose this company because of its versatility and great value for money. With a variety of interesting and flavorful recipes, Blue Apron uses high-quality ingredients to deliver an excellent culinary experience.
Blue Apron has something for everyone on the menu, whether you're in the mood for Italian or American cuisine, or more exotic Asian-inspired dishes. The Signature plans are great for balanced meals. There are 2-serving and 4-serving Signature plans so this is perfect for families or couples. You can enjoy Blue Apron if you’re single too, you might just have some food left over for lunch the next day.
The Wellness and Vegetarian plans are great if you’re looking for healthier options. The Wellness plan offers health-forward meals, with options like Oregano Pork Chops and Roasted Vegetables (pictured above), which is WW-Recommended and only 580 calories. For more information about Blue Apron’s plans, check out my colleague’s detailed review.
In addition to meal kits, Blue Apron also offers several ready-made meals. The meal kits have comprehensive instructions printed on recipe cards and take approximately 30 minutes to prepare. For those very busy or lazy evenings, you’ll be grateful for the Fast & Easy prepared meals, which are microwavable and only take 2 minutes to heat up. Plus, they’re as healthy as the rest.
Blue Apron also offers many add-ons, such as salads, proteins, soups, breakfasts and brunches, and even fancy desserts and charcuterie boards. Those could come in handy if you’re hosting a dinner party, but so can Blue Apron’s wine.
You can order wine in bundles or on a separate subscription, which is unique when it comes to a meal delivery service. You can see recommendations as to what wine pairs well with what meal on the menu, which is a nice touch.
The Market section allows you to purchase durable kitchenware at reasonable prices, as well as blue aprons (duh!) and proprietary spice blends to enhance your cooking. Meal bundles and festive bundles are also available, including Thanksgiving or Christmas specials.
Blue Apron starts at just $5.74 per serving. You can order 2 to 4 recipes per week serving either 2 or 4 people. The prepared meals are considered add-ons, which means you can order more than 4 total meals in 1 order, which is a great option if you want to stock up for the week.

Green Chef is a meal kit delivery service that takes pride in being 100% certified organic, making it one of the best options in St. Petersburg. It's so dedicated to using organic ingredients that it holds an organic handler USDA certification. Not only that, but its animal ingredients come from suppliers with high animal welfare standards and its wild fish is sustainably caught.
Its recipes are crafted by chefs to be nutritionally balanced and full of interesting flavors that’ll take your taste buds on a journey. Plus, Green Chef sends you its own spice blends, sauces, and marinades that are created in-house to follow strict diet requirements, like keto or vegan.
Green Chef offers a variety of dietary options to choose from. You can opt for Keto, Gluten-Free, Vegan, Vegetarian, Protein Packed, Mediterranean, or Fast & Fit meals.
Green Chef lets you mix and match meals across different meal plans, and it offers a large number of certified organic ingredients. See this excellent Green Chef review written by one of my colleagues to get a full run-down of the company.
Certain dishes are versatile enough to suit various diets, such as the Spicy Sesame Shrimp with Broccoli Stir-Fry, Cashews, and Spicy Ginger-Lime Aïoli (picture). This meal is both keto and gluten-free and is also tagged under the Fast & Fit category.
Green Chef's menu includes premium meals under the Chef Select tag, which costs a little more. The standard meals from Green Chef are already top-notch, but the Chef Select meals are even more elevated. These meals are usually meat-based, such as steak or seafood recipes, much like HelloFresh's Premium Picks.
In addition to the standard meals, Green Chef also offers several add-ons that you can purchase on their website, such as a la carte protein like organic chicken cutlets, ground beef, or shrimp. You can also order salads, desserts, and breakfast options, categorized as keto, veggie, and vegan.
Green Chef also provides 10-minute lunch options on their menu if you want something more substantial than oatmeal but still not a full dinner. These options are perfect for super busy days or after a workout.
Green Chef's pricing starts at $5.99 per serving. You can select 2, 3, or 4 meals per week for 2, 4, or 6 people, making it convenient for singles and couples as well as families.

HelloFresh is an easy and affordable way to cook delicious meals at home. This popular meal kit delivery service offers a wide range of recipes that are suitable for everyone, from couples to families with kids. This is because the menu is full of kid-friendly options, such as tacos, burgers, and pasta dishes. Plus, the portions are generous, making it easy to feed larger families.
All recipes have been tested and approved by past customers, so you can trust that they're both delicious and easy to make. You can find the most popular hits under the Hall of Fame category on the menu.
If you don’t have a lot of time to cook, HelloFresh offers many recipes. You’ll see tags such as Easy Prep and Quick under the meal image on the main menu. Many of these recipes can be prepared in just 15 or 20 minutes and don’t require many cooking utensils either making clean up super easy. The One Pot Turkey and Black Bean Soup pictured above only requires one pot and 10 minutes of prep time.
If you follow a vegan or vegetarian diet, HelloFresh has plenty of options to choose from. Most of its recipes come with 2 or 3 variations, including plant-based proteins, so you can enjoy the same recipe as everyone else at the table.
HelloFresh also offers low-carb, high-protein, and low-calorie recipes if you want to enjoy comfort food but don’t want to stray from a healthy diet. The 6 meal categories include a Fit & Wholesome plan, after all.
You can mix and match meals from all of the categories in your order. So whether you're in the mood for a vegan curry or a protein-packed steak, you can customize your order to suit your preferences.
HelloFresh’s high-quality, farm-fresh ingredients arrive very well organized. Speaking of organizing, you can also use an app to easily manage your account. You can find a host of details about it in this thorough review of HelloFresh by one of my fellow writers.
For special occasions, HelloFresh offers Premium Picks that are fancier, such as premium seafood or steak dishes. These meals are a bit pricier and take longer to prepare, but they're worth it if you want to treat yourself to a restaurant-quality meal at home.
HelloFresh's meals start at just $3.32 per serving, making it an especially affordable option if you're cooking for a small family. You can choose to order 2 to 6 recipes per week, each serving 2 or 4 people.

Home Chef is best known for its Customize It tool, a tool that allows customers to tailor certain meals to their liking by adding, upgrading, or swapping out proteins accordingly. The company offers 4 different meal categories: Calorie-conscious, <30 minutes, Carb-conscious, and Vegetarian.
There are over 35 meals on the menu each week, and the customization extends it even further. For example, you can swap chicken cutlets for breast, pork chops, seafood, or a plant-based option, which adds 4 more recipes to the weekly repertoire. You can learn more about Home Chef’s customization in this dedicated review by one of my colleagues.
The company offers a slew of easy-to-follow recipes with step-by-step instructions. Every meal kit is sent with pre-portioned ingredients making the prep process even easier, so you don’t have to be a very experienced chef to get dinner on the table.
Home Chef's menu is perfect for families. You’ll find some meal kits and oven-ready dishes specifically tagged Family. Since the menu is so diverse, you can easily tailor the recipes to suit each family member's preferences. Whether 1 person wants chicken and another wants beef, you can easily make it happen in the same recipe.
Unfortunately, Home Chef doesn’t cater to other diets and allergies. If you’re looking for specific diets like keto or gluten-free, you can check out a service like Green Chef.
However, the menu includes low-carb and low-calorie meals, making it a great option if you’re watching your figure. Home Chef also has a la carte protein offerings, which are useful if you want to add more protein to your meals, although they’re not organic like Green Chef’s.
Home Chef’s add-on menu is a great way to minimize your trips to the grocery store. In addition to offering a la carte proteins, you can also order breakfasts, soups, and salads, as well as indulge in dessert, pizza, mac & cheese, or different snacks. Essentials like bread and coffee are also on the menu.
Home Chef's bundles are another great way to save money and try out new flavor combinations. These bundles include 2 or more add-ons that complement each other, such as garlic bread with cheese spread or coffee with cake.
The Culinary Collection features premium recipes with high-end proteins (like Mahi Mahi) with elevated sides. Try these out if you want to indulge in more expensive and exotic dishes, Some recipes include ingredients like truffle aioli, which from my experience is rare in other meal kits.
Home Chef offers flexible subscription options starting at $7.99 per serving. You can choose to receive 2 to 6 recipes per week for 2, 4, or 6 people depending on your needs.
Little if any clean-up required
Offers both meal kits and prepared meals
Provides pre-portioned ingredients for meal kits
Fresh and Easy is basically a spin-off and subsidiary of Home Chef. Fresh and Easy is a plan that features ultra-convenient meals specifically designed to minimize the amount of cooking required.
The Fresh and Easy meals are listed under the Easy Prep Meal Kits category on the Home Chef menu, making them easy to spot. Don’t worry, even though they’re listed separately, you can mix and match meals from the regular menu and the Fresh and Easy collection, as well as Home Chef’s add-ons.
Fresh and Easy offers specialized meal kits and prepared meals like Grill Ready, Fast & Fresh, 15-Minute Meal Kits, Oven Ready, and Entrée Salads. Plus, most Fresh and Easy meals are not only quick and easy to prepare, but they’re a cinch to clean up.
The oven-ready meals come with a single-use aluminum tray. The Fast & Fresh meals, on the other hand, are microwaveable and take no time to prepare. These meals come with fresh produce that needs to be rinsed and then added to the microwave-safe trays provided.
The Express category meals require minimal cooking, such as simply frying the toppings and heating the pre-cooked pasta. These meals can be ready in as little as 10 minutes and still provide a warm, home-cooked meal. You can read about Fresh and Easy in this dedicated review by one of my colleagues. Like Home Chef, it offers easy-to-follow recipes and lots of variation, making it very family-friendly.
And like Home Chef, Fresh and Easy allows you to customize the protein in most meals. However, the menu doesn’t include special diets like keto or gluten-free and options for vegans are limited. Luckily, there are plenty of vegetarian recipes and you can turn many meat-based dishes vegetarian by switching the protein using the Customize It feature.
Fresh and Easy starts at $7.99 per portion and offers 2 to 6 recipes each week for 2, 4, or 6 people. You can effortlessly feed up to 6 people for a whole week by adding Home Chef's add-ons, like breakfast and dessert.
150+ total options including breakfast, lunch, and dinner
The program is designed by a medical doctor specializing in weight loss
Different plans for men and women with different health issues
BistroMD can help you lose weight without the hassle of cooking your own meals. The plans, created by a medical doctor, cater to different medical issues and take your gender into account. Calorie counting is no longer needed since everything is already calculated for you.
BistroMD’s meal plans are designed to cover your breakfast, lunch, and dinner for every day of the week, with 1 “cheat” dinner night to indulge in your favorite foods guilt-free. Whether you’re looking to gradually transform your eating habits or just want to cut down on unhealthy foods, you can choose between ordering meals for 5 days a week or just 2 meals per day.
BistroMD covers a wide range of weight-loss meal plans, including Signature, Heart Healthy, Gluten-Free, Menopause, Keto Flex (which is not strictly keto, but a similar low-carb diet made more flexible), and Diabetic, all with options for both men and women.
I was thrilled to see a program tailored to women experiencing menopause, who often have unique dietary needs that are frequently ignored (you can read more about this in my BistroMD review). The Signature plan, however, is suitable for anyone without specific health issues, no matter the age.
BistroMD's meals are meticulously crafted to provide optimal macronutrient balance. Take, for example, the Smoked Chipotle Pork and Eggs breakfast, which only has 250 calories but delivers 25 g of protein and just 16 g of carbs. This dish is a popular choice across all of BistroMD's plans, including the gluten-free option.
The portions aren’t very generous, with each meal containing under 400 calories. I’m afraid that if you're not accustomed to strict diets, it may take some time to get used to eating such small meals. But since BistroMD's meals don't sound like boring diet food, the taste and unusual ingredients (bison meat or alcohol-based sauces among them) can help you stick to the program.
BistroMD’s meals start at $8.24 per serving. A single order is enough to feed you for either 5 or 7 days, and you can select from a complete program of 3 meals per day, or a partial program that includes only lunch and dinner.

20+ unique options every week including meal kits and prepared meals
Offers both breakfast and lunch options
Like Blue Apron, Purple Carrot offers both regular meal kits as well as prepared meals. However, unlike Blue Apron, all of Purple Carrot's meals are fully vegan, with no meat, dairy, eggs, or honey in the recipes. You can learn more about Purple Carrot’s plant-based menus in this review written by one of my colleagues.
The menu features high-protein, veggie-packed meals that use tofu, tempeh, seitan, beans, and legumes as the primary protein sources. Occasionally, there are plant-based burgers and other comfort foods as well.
The meals usually highlight the vegetables, especially seasonal fresh veggies, such as in the Ancient Grain Bowls in the above picture. Apart from baby arugula and chickpeas, it features vegan butter and dairy-free garlic cheese. It’s tagged high-protein with 26 g of protein per portion. Moreover, it takes only 30 minutes to prepare.
Purple Carrot offers a convenient Less Prep option that doesn't require any chopping or prepping, and the sauces come pre-made. This results in quicker meal preparation and less cleanup afterward. That doesn’t mean that the meal kits aren’t convenient. Quite on the contrary, most of them are super easy and are suitable for beginners.
Even the meal kits that aren’t labeled Low Prep come with ready-made sauces, and most of the produce is trimmed or chopped. I was especially impressed by how the garlic arrives minced, which is one of my least favorite parts when cooking. On the other hand, the prepared meals require only 2-3 minutes in the microwave, making them the ultimate convenience option.
There are generally 8 prepared meals and 12 meal kits to choose from each week. If you're ordering the maximum amount of 10 prepared meals, you'll need to double up on some of the recipes.
The price for Purple Carrot starts at $8.50 per serving. The minimum order includes 3 recipes for 2 people per week, while the maximum is 4 recipes for 4 people. For the single-serving prepared meals, you can order from 6, 8, or 10 recipes each week and the price per meal is fixed no matter how many you order.

Marley Spoon is endorsed and backed up by culinary TV legend Martha Stewart. She brings her many years of cooking experience, her formidable culinary reputation, and a bevy of personal recipes and spice blends to the team.
However, that doesn't mean that its popularity is solely based on its founder. Rather, Marley Spoon has gained its reputation by providing quality and diversity for those who desire to have an enjoyable experience cooking and eating healthier. You can find out more about Martha Stewart’s contributions to the Marley Spoon team in this excellent review by 1 of my colleagues.
Marley Spoon's website looks a lot like Dinnerly's. Both offer a list of over 100 items every week, and both provide meal kits, prepared meals, and add-ons. They’re similar because they share the same parent company, even though they cater to different audiences.
Essentially, Marley Spoon is ideal if you want a more sophisticated version of Dinnerly (although pricier). The distinction is evident in the quality and quantity of Marley Spoon's ingredients. Although the meal kits are easy to prepare and can be recreated in 6 easy steps, Marley Spoon offers an elevated experience.
Marley Spoon provides a range of meal options, including 3 microwavable prepared meals per week, meal kits with ready-to-heat sides such as rice, or simple one-pot meals like the Tapas-Style Meatball Stew (pictured). This makes meal preparation easier and less time-consuming.
The menu is diverse, featuring family-friendly Italian, Mexican, and American dishes, as well as Asian-inspired cuisine, ensuring that there is something for everyone. The Premium category includes gourmet meals with high-quality ingredients and chef-crafted recipes, making it an even fancier option while still being cheaper than dining out.
What sets Marley Spoon apart is its strong commitment to sustainability, as the company invests in projects that offset its carbon footprint. Plus, its packaging is easy to recycle, so the service is eco-conscious all around.
The starting price is $2.99 per serving, and customers can order 2 to 6 recipes for 2 or 4 people.
Offers meals that are easy to cook
45+ or more assorted recipes offered every week, plus customizations

If you’re looking for an inexpensive meal delivery service, Dinnerly is the place to go with the lowest prices of any service on this list. It’s an excellent choice for those looking to save money on food without compromising on the convenience of a meal delivery service.
Most of the Dinnerly meals have easy-to-follow recipes and can be fixed in less than 30 minutes. It’s a great option for college students or others who are trying to stretch their dollars. You can learn all the details in this dedicated Dinnerly review by one of my colleagues.
Although the meals aren’t fancy, they’re still flavorful and visually appealing. Despite having only a few ingredients, each dish comes with spices and sauces to enhance its flavor. Additionally, meal preparation is simplified because there are fewer ingredients to chop or prep.
The cooking process is very straightforward, as Dinnerly's recipes contain only 5 steps max and so are extremely easy to cook. They also tend to require minimal pots and pans, which makes cleaning up a breeze.
Like Marley Spoon, Dinnerly has an extensive menu that includes meal kits, prepared meals, and various add-ons, with a total of around 100 options available. While the menu has over 45 meal kits, it can be challenging to navigate as there are no filters. However, each meal visually pops out thanks to the several tags underneath.
Dinnerly offers a range of dietary tags, including vegetarian, dairy-free, low-carb, and low-calorie. Most of the meals are also tagged as kid-friendly and have simple and uncomplicated preparations, making them perfect for picky eaters.
One-third of the menu falls under the PremiYUM category, which includes meals that are more sophisticated (read: have more ingredients) and cost a bit more than the regular meal kits. The PremiYUM category also features microwavable prepared meals, which have a higher price point. Although these meals are more premium than Dinnerly's basic meal kits, they’re comparable to HelloFresh's standard meal kits, and they're not quite Michelin-star-level dishes.
Moreover, Dinnerly's add-ons feature desserts, breakfasts, snacks, proteins, and sides, all of the same unfussy variety as the meal kits.
With prices starting as low as $2.12, you can order 3 to 6 meals per week for either 2 or 4 people. This makes Dinnerly a great option for budget-conscious families, especially those with more members, as the meals can satisfy everyone's cravings without hurting your wallet.

There are a number of crucial metrics you can use when evaluating meal delivery services in St. Petersburg, Florida, or elsewhere for that matter. Check these out to help you decide.
Customization: Being able to tailor specific details of a meal to your liking is a huge plus. It simply expands your options and makes each meal more your own.
Available Diets: If you’re looking for a specific diet like Keto, Vegan, or Mediterranean, it’s always best to find a service that caters to that specific diet rather than trying to construct such meals on your own. A service like Green Chef can provide all of them.
Selection: The number of meals offered is also crucial when evaluating a meal delivery service in St. Petersburg. By my estimation, the sweet spot here in terms of range is between 30 and 60 recipes a week.
Cost Per Serving: And, of course, cost per serving will always be a factor you must look at as you evaluate a meal delivery service in St. Petersburg. Although some people may be able to disregard cost, for others, when money is tight, it’s a critical detail. This is when a low-cost service like Dinnerly comes in handy.
When you compare a St. Petersburg meal delivery service vs grocery shopping, the meal service is often the better choice. First, many services save you money by providing you with the precise amount of ingredients you need rather than excess food you might have to throw out.
Meal delivery services can also save you time, by eliminating frequent grocery shopping. And they’re also good for the environment because they don’t produce as much waste.
An excellent St. Petersburg meal delivery service for 1 person is Factor. It offers from 6 to 18 meals per week per subscription. And you have the option to heat your meals in either the oven or in the microwave. It’s incredibly convenient.
Generally speaking, most St. Petersburg meal delivery services are healthy and nutritious. Many of them combine environmental awareness with a reputation for providing high-quality ingredients. A perfect example of this is HelloFresh, a service with farm-fresh ingredients providing vegetarian and low-carb recipes among its healthy choices.
