Naked Wines makes it really easy to cancel your Angel status by using the account settings without having to call customer support. However, this means you’ll be losing Naked Wines’ special discount (up to 60% off market prices on all wines). |
Being a Naked Wines Angel comes with a lot of perks, including access to high-quality wine from independent producers. But it also means you have to commit to a monthly $40 deposit whether you’re ordering anything that month or not.
So if you’re done with being an Angel and want to try something different, how do you proceed? Since we’re on the topic of trying something different, I strongly recommend Firstleaf’s selections..
The good news is the Naked Wines makes it easy to clip your wings (renounce your Angel status). And you can get back any leftover deposits in the piggy bank. Let me walk you through the process step-by-step.
Go straight to the alternatives
Sign in and open My Account – On the Naked Wines website, log in and go to the My Account section of your profile.
Go to My Subscriptions – Choose My Subscriptions from the left sidebar.
Choose what you want to cancel – Naked Wines offers several subscription options, so choose the subscriptions you want to cancel.
Find the option to cancel – Find the Cancel My Subscription button and click on it. Wait for a confirmation email or message, and you’re done!
Look for a replacement – If you’re looking for an alternative with similar features, I recommend Firstleaf.
You can also call customer support or use the Naked Wines app to cancel your account.
A Naked Wines subscription is a bit different than what regular wine delivery services offer. Naked Wines operates on the idea of upfront payments (your monthly deposit) as a way to show interest in making a purchase in the future.
I find this approach more flexible, as it gives you full control over when to place an order. However, if you’re not someone who drinks wine regularly, you can end up with a pretty well-stocked piggy bank and no wine deliveries, which can be frustrating.
The good news is that you can get your money back if you decide to give up your Angel status. You can do this by placing a request via your Angels Account tab in the My Account section of the website or the app or by calling the customer service team.
If you choose to use the website or the app, here are the steps to follow:
Sign in and open My Account – On the website, the Log In button is in the upper-right corner. If you’ve logged in to your account before from the device you’re using, it should already display your name.
Once you’re logged in, choose the Your Account option from the drop-down menu. This will open your Angel account section, where you can see a variety of options, including the My Subscriptions section.
Open the My Subscriptions section – Here, you’ll find the wine lists you’re subscribed to (so to speak). As an Angel member, Naked Wines lets you reserve a case of your favorite wines or customize your wine orders based on your flavor profile.
Cancel your subscription – To cancel your subscription (or renounce your Angel status), find the Cancel button. Once you press that button, you will also be taken off all Naked Wines lists that allow you access to specific wines before non-members.
You’re no longer an Angel – Wait for a confirmation message or email that states you are no longer part of the Angel community. If you don’t see such a message in the upcoming days, contact support to make sure your membership is actually canceled.
And that’s it! You are officially broken up with Naked Wines and are free to search for a new wine delivery service.
Firstleaf is a wine delivery service that caters to connoisseurs and beginners alike. Firstleaf helps you discover wines tailored to your taste preferences through a quiz, ensuring a personalized selection.
However, Firstleaf doesn’t lock you into purchasing just the wines the quiz suggests. If the algorithm's recommendation isn't to your liking, you can easily choose from 3 other options. Also, similar to Naked Wines, Firstleaf grants you full control over customizing your box when buying a la carte.
Firstleaf’s diverse catalog includes exciting and unique options from all over the world. The company impresses new and seasoned wine drinkers with an array of options from regions such as Argentina, Chile, South Africa, Spain, and so on.
The service also caters to specialized diets by offering keto- and vegan-friendly wines. This is something the company has in common with Naked Wines, which also offers dietary options, such as organic, vegan, and vegetarian.
Firstleaf takes pride in educating its wine drinkers by including informative wine cards in every box. Speaking of which, according to my colleague’s in-depth review of Firstleaf, the box and packaging are entirely recyclable.
You can choose between subscription plans and buying à la carte. However, the membership plans may be a bit confusing for new customers. Also, the minimum order with a subscription is 6 bottles, which can be too much for some buyers.
The good news is that canceling your subscription with Firstleaf is effortless. You can do everything from your online account or by reaching out to the customer support team. Whichever option you choose, the process will be seamless.
As for pricing, Firstleaf's membership fees can be slightly higher than Naked Wines'. Prices start at $7.49 per bottle and can go as high as $90+ per bottle for an exclusive. But the Firstleaf team of professionals knows how to attract and entice you with interesting discounts, like the deal available right now – Get $100 off your first 3 boxes.
If you're looking for an engaging service with good customization options, Firstleaf is an excellent choice. Whether you're on a quest for new flavors or expanding your knowledge about different grape varietals, Firstleaf delivers an exceptional experience that rivals Naked Wines in terms of quality and convenience.
Bright Cellars stands out as a user-friendly and educational wine delivery service. Unlike Naked Wines, Bright Cellars keeps things simple by helping you find wines that align with your taste preferences through a quiz.
The company also offers informative wine cards with each box. This way, both beginners and experienced drinkers have the opportunity to learn more about the wines they receive. This comes in stark contrast with Naked Wines’ focus on taste rather than on marketing and educational materials.
Check out Bright Cellars if you want wine delivery that’s accessible to beginners. The company features 3 subscription plans and the possibility to buy pre-defined wine bundles (designed with the help of professional sommeliers and wine experts).
The subscription plans are easy to understand – you can order boxes of 4, 6, or 12 bottles. Your wines will be selected by the algorithm based on your preferences, but you can also swap or change your preferences as time goes by. Make sure to check out our full review of Bright Cellars if you want to learn more about the ordering process.
Both services have an impressive selection of wines, but each company’s list is different. Naked Wines is all about supporting independent producers and sourcing unique wines not commonly found in regular stores. On the other hand, Bright Cellars features over 80 types of wines from various regions across the globe.
If you decide Bright Cellars is not for you, the cancelation process is easy and straightforward. Everything can be solved via your online account, or you can reach out to the customer support team. Both options are easy enough and leave no room for confusion.
In terms of pricing, Bright Cellars' subscription may come at a slightly higher cost than Naked Wines. Bright Cellars’ best price is $10.00 per bottle, while Naked Wines’ prices start from $7.99 for Angel members.
Bright Cellars also offers various discounts as part of its membership benefits. Overall, Bright Cellars is an excellent choice for those looking to discover new wines matched precisely to their preferences while gaining valuable insights into the world of wine.
Wine Insiders’ diverse selection of quality wines caters to most budgets. The company’s portfolio includes everything from lesser-known bottles to award-winning wines that can satisfy the palate of even the most discerning connoisseurs.
The menu features wines from renowned regions such as Argentina, Chile, France, South Africa, and Spain. Plus, the company frequently collaborates with celebrities to create special collections that tantalize the taste buds with unique flavors. Currently, you can taste collections curated by Martha Stewart, Ludo Lefebvre, and Geoffrey Zakarian.
Wine Insiders has other products too, like ready-to-drink cocktails and canned wines. You’ll also find vegan and organic wine options, which ensures there's something for everyone to enjoy. This care for diversity is something my colleague appreciated in their detailed Wine Insiders review.
Similar to Naked Wines, Wine Insiders gives you complete control over your box. You can handpick your desired wines from the extensive catalog or choose from predefined sets. The sets tend to focus on specific themes like Poolside Sipping or Campfire Reds.
Just like Bright Cellars and Firstleaf, Wine Insiders shares extra info about its wines, including knowledge like the ideal food pairing for each bottle. So whether you’re just starting your wine-drinking journey or you’re already a seasoned connoisseur, there will always be something new to learn.
You can try Wine Insiders with a club membership or with à la carte purchases. If you choose to become a club member, you’ll enjoy an array of perks, including regular discounts.
Lastly, Wine Insiders is among the more affordable wine delivery services on the market. The cost per bottle starts at $8.99, which rivals even Naked Wine’s famous Angel prices. So, it’s a great way to enjoy wines without breaking the bank.

Yes, Naked Wines makes it easy to cancel your subscription (known as an Angel membership). All you have to do is use the tools available in your online account or call customer support.
Wine Insiders is a great alternative if you’re looking for a budget-friendly service. Wine Insiders’ prices rival the prices Naked Wines offers for Angel members without taking away anything from wine quality.
You can cancel your Naked Wines subscription anytime you want. Since Naked Wines’ Angels are not subscribers in the traditional sense, you can ask for a cancelation and refund of available funds anytime you want.
