6 Best Organic Wine Clubs in 2024: Expert Picked

Choosing the best organic wine clubs isn’t as simple as just picking any competitor. You have to ensure that organic wines are actually available if that’s what you’re after. Some companies offer more organic wines than others – so you also have to decide what types of wine you want, be it red, white, or others.

Fortunately, I’ve done the legwork to help you choose the best for you. I’ve looked at the variety of offerings, how many organic wines are available from each company, pricing, and more. Overall, there are certainly a few great options if you specifically want organic wine. Find out everything you need to know in my article today.

I’ve found Naked Wines to be the best organic wine club this year. It offers around 9 organic options at any given time including different reds and whites. Most organic options score over 80%, with some reaching as high as 90%+. Pricing also seems to be quite reasonable considering the organic nature of the bottles.

Short on Time? Here Are the Best Organic Wine Clubs

  1. Naked Wines – Best organic wine membership

  2. Wine Insiders – Best 90+ rated organic wines <$20

  3. The California Wine Club – Best overall selection of organic wines

  4. Macy’s Wine Shop – Best selection of international wines

  5. Monthly Clubs – Best gourmet wine club

The 10 Best Organic Wine Clubs Reviewed

1. Naked Wines – Best Organic Wine Membership

Chris Condos Made with Organic Grapes Mendocino Field Blend 2021

Key Features

  • Around 9 organic options available

  • Crowdfunding allows you to support local wineries

  • Angel members get special perks and discounts

  • Current deal: Get 50% Off!

Naked Wines offers among the largest selections of organic wines. You’ll find roughly 9 bottles at any given time. This includes the Chris Condos Made with Organic Grapes Mendocino Field Blend 2021 (pictured), which also happens to be highly rated at 93%.

Aside from that, the best thing about Naked Wines is that you can choose your own bottles. If you only want to choose organic options, the choice is yours to do so. Some other competitors don’t allow that and will curate bottles on your behalf. You can learn more about this business model in my colleague’s Naked Wines review.

You can also utilize the wine recommendation system that helps you find wines you may like. When you buy and try the bottles, you can rate them to then get further recommendations. The more you do that, the more suitable the wine recommendations become over time.

I found the organic wine selection to be decently diverse, though not as diverse as if you were open to non-organic wines as well. Some standout examples include the Brothers Miller Organic Paso Robles Cabernet Sauvignon 2021 at 91%, and Derek Rohlffs Rattlesnake Ridge Vineyard Organic Moon Mountain Zinfandel 2022 at 88%.

But don’t think you’re only limited to reds! Some great examples of organic whites include the Chris Condos Organic Mendocino Chardonnay 2021, or the Chris Condos Made with Organic Grapes Mendocino Sauvignon Blanc 2022. Both of these also score over 80%, at 82% and 87%, respectively. a screenshot of Naked Wines' 2021 Mauricio Lorca Organic Cabernet Sauvignon

That brings me to the fact that you can’t purchase single bottles, sadly. The minimum order at Naked Wines is 6 bottles. If you enjoy large purchases, this is no problem – but not ideal if you prefer buying single bottles.

All of the organic bottles come from the US, with the exception of the aforementioned Mauricio Lorca Organic Cabernet Sauvignon 2021, which is from Argentina. If you’re into home-grown organic wines, then Naked Wines might be just the fit.

I also want to talk about the “Angel” program, which has some unique benefits. If you become an angel, you’ll pay $40, which then goes to support local wineries. This fee also converts into credits for future purchases, and you save money on each bottle. Angels generally save 20 to 30% off any bottle. Non-Angels pay the regular price.

All that said, pricing starts at around $7.99 per bottle. Generally, you’ll also pay $9.99 for shipping unless your order totals at least $100. You can also send gifts that you can send along with a note. Someone over the age of 21 will have to be the recipient, though.

2. Wine Insiders – Best 90+ Rated Organic Wines <$20

2019 Calvari Organic Toscana Rosso I.G.T.

Key Features

  • Around 5 to 6 organic wine options under $30

  • Plenty of other exclusive wines

  • Red, white, sparkling, sweet, rosé, dessert, and more available

  • Current deal: Get 10% off + FREE shipping!

Wine Insiders is great if you want good wines without spending too much. Well-known people like Martha Stewart helped choose some wines. It offers around 5 organic options at any time, including the 2019 Calvari Organic Toscana Rosso I.G.T. (pictured). If you want more info, check out my Wine Insiders review, which talks about how the wines won’t empty your wallet.

You can find lots of different wines here. These include reds, whites, bubblies, and even sweet dessert wines. The company sources the wines from many places, including Argentina, Austria, Chile, and the USA. Right now, the 5 organic wine options are from Sicily, Tuscany, and Puglia, Italy along with France and Spain.

Each of the organic wine options costs less than $25, which I find reasonable. Overall, though, there are over 100 different bottles. Sometimes, a famous wine expert might add a special wine. The company might not always have the fanciest brands, but it has a respectably large selection.

If you only want organic wines occasionally, there are plenty of good options. For example, a lot of the wines have high ratings and cost less than $20. But if you're looking for really old or rare wines, this might not be your place. Still, some wines, like the 2020 Marquis de Bacalon Bordeaux Blanc, got top scores from many reviewers. a screenshot of Wine Insiders' 2019 Calvari Organic Toscana Rosso I.G.T.

All the info you need about the wine is on the website, like the type, year, alcohol level, and where it's from. There are 6 different wine sets, with different prices and sizes. Some sets even have big Magnum bottles.

If you like getting wine regularly, there’s a subscription available to you. You can get 12 bottles every 3 months. You choose if you want reds, whites, or both. The first order even comes with 3 extra bottles, and sometimes, there's a bonus wine-related gift.

For prices, it starts at $8.99. Most regular bottles are around $25 or less. The big Magnum wines cost between $35 to $47 each, depending on if you buy them alone or in a set of 6. The big bottles are also cheaper than what some other places offer.

3. The California Wine Club – Best Overall Selection of Organic Wines

Castoro Cellars 2022 Paso Robles Estate Sauvignon Blanc

Key Features

The California Wine Club first aimed to spotlight only California wines. However, over time, it has widened its lens to include the Pacific Northwest and other interesting places. If you’re specifically looking for organic wines, you’ll find a wide range of 20+ choices from this awesome wine region.

If you want to narrow down the menu to only organic wines, you’ll need to search for them. The way you do this is by typing organic into the Wine Search box at the top left hand side of the page. After speaking with the customer service team, this is the only way to find the organic offerings currently available.

That said, when it comes to organic red wines, the selection is strong. You’ll find options like Castoro Cellars 2020 Paso Robles Estate Merlot and the Horse & Plow 2019 Draft Horse North Coast Red Wine.

In terms of whites, the selection is equally varied. Examples here include the Horse & Plow 2021 Draft Horse North Coast White Wine or the Castoro Cellars 2022 Paso Robles Estate Sauvignon Blanc (pictured).

I particularly like the idea of joining its wine clubs. If you join, you're supporting small, family-run wineries. If you want more details, my coworker's thorough review is worth a look. 2 wines and a leaflet from California Wine Club's Premier Series

Joining this club lets you pick from monthly clubs that cater to all kinds of wine fans. If rare, special-edition wines are your thing, you might like the Signature Series club. If you want to explore California's prize-winners, check out the Premier Series club.

For lovers of well-aged wines, there's a collection of Cabernet Sauvignon that's been aging nicely for 8-12 years. And if you want to taste wines from different countries, a club takes you on a worldwide wine journey.

The club also gives a tip of the hat to wines from Oregon and Washington with its Pacific Northwest Series club. These areas are known for balanced wines that taste a bit different than wines from other places.

Being a member isn't just about getting bottles of wine; it's a whole experience. You get helpful tasting notes, a magazine just for members, nice discounts on future buys, and the chance to pick which wines you get. With this club, every delivery feels special.

As for how much it costs, bottles start at $10.99. If you're thinking about gifts, there's lots to choose from: Wine Club Gifts, Pre-picked Wine Gift Sets, Business Wine Gifts, and even Digital Gift Cards for folks who like to keep things current.

4. Macy’s Wine Shop – Best Selection of International Wines

2020 Envol Organic Cabernet Sauvignon

Key Features

  • Limited-production, small-batch, organic wines

  • Wine profiles and tasting notes for every bottle

  • Red, white, rosé, and sparkling wines available

Macy’s Wine Shop offers around 10 organic wine options at any time. These include whites, reds, and blended wines. One example is the 2020 Envol Organic Cabernet Sauvignon, which hails from France and costs less than $20.

Some other organic options include the 2020 El Susurro de la Gaonera Organic Garnacha, and the 2019 Calvari Organic Toscana Rosso I.G.T., all of which cost less than $20.

Aside from that, it offers a world of other choices. Whether you're grabbing a bottle or signing up for the club, expect some delightful surprises. Join the club, and every 3 months, a carefully chosen set of 6 international wines will appear at your door.

Stay with the club for a whole year, and you'll get 2 extra bottles – 1 in winter and another in summer. These bottles are just right for cozy winter nights or chilled summer afternoons.

It's immediately clear there's a lot to choose from. Reds? There are plenty, from the soft touch of Cabernet Franc and Montepulciano to the distinct taste of Petite Sirah and Sangiovese. Pair it with a meal or sip it solo, and I think you'll be pleased. a screenshot of Macy's Wine Shop's 2022 Sous L'Ocean Skin-Contact White

If white wines are more your style, Macy's Wine Club won't disappoint. Experience the mellow vibes of Chardonnay or the fresh twist of Muscadet. Each glass can take you from Portugal's warm beaches to Chile's stunning valleys.

Looking for something extra? Peek at the club's special collections. The Sommelier's Choice is bound to impress any wine lover. And if you're all about conscious choices, it offers a range of vegan wines, too. Check out my coworker's in-depth review to learn more about Macy’s.

But joining Macy's Wine Club is about more than just wine. It's an experience. Discover rare wines and get to know them better with the in-depth tasting notes that come with each bottle.

It's also simple to give gifts with this club. Choose from sets of 3, 6, or 12 bottles, from luxury gifts to budget options, and even wedding specials. There's something for every event.

And there's always more to uncover. Explore Essential Wines, unwind with Easy-Drinking Reds, or celebrate the Award Winners. Here's a toast to new discoveries – just a figure of speech, and only if you're 21 or older! Prices kick off at $10.99.

5. Monthly Clubs – Best Gourmet Wine Club

Emile Beyer Eguisheim Pinot Noir 2020

Key Features

  • Extensive info on food pairings and tasting notes

  • Red and white wines available

Every month, Monthly Wine Clubs takes you on an international wine adventure from the comfort of your couch. Discover a range of wine styles, from iconic reds and refreshing whites to the occasional bubbly treat. There are around 3 to 5 organic wines on offer at any time.

There are 2 reds, 1 white, and 1 red in the half or full case. These include the Emile Beyer Eguisheim Pinot Noir 2020, Tikal Mendoza Natural Malbec Syrah 2020, and the Emile Beyer Les Traditions Pinot Blanc 2021 (pictured). The featured red organic wine in the half or full case is the Tenuta Meraviglia Bolgheri Rosso DOC 2019, from Italy.

Aside from organic wines, though it doesn't cover every wine out there, the list is impressive. Dive into whites like Sangiovese, Pinot Bianco, and Riesling, or explore hearty reds like Merlot, adaptable Pinot Noir, and strong Shiraz, just to mention a few.

Each wine in your selection has been thoughtfully chosen. The club's expert sommeliers ensure you get top-notch picks. Some of the standout options include S. Sebastião Vinho Regional Lisboa Syrah/Touriga Nacional Reserva 2020 and Herdade Aldeia de Cima Serra do Mendro Alentejo Reserva Tinto 2019. a screenshot of monthly 2020 Emile Beyer Eguisheim Pinot Noir

Every month, 2 specially chosen bottles from your selected club will be delivered, featuring either hard-to-find reds or whites from renowned vineyards. Dive deeper into the club offerings in our official review.

Each wine bottle includes a handy info card with interesting details. Generally, these will shed light on the wine’s background, flavor notes, and food pairings. It's like having a personal sommelier curate your wine selection.

But being part of this club is not just about quenching your thirst for wine. It's also an educational trip. With each bottle, you'll immerse yourself in the intricate world of wines, appreciating the distinct flavors each wine-producing region presents. Tips for Choosing the Best Organic Wine Clubs

Choosing an organic wine club isn’t as simple as picking any competitor. Not all competitors offer organic wines. Here’s what I recommend taking into consideration when making your choice:

  • Look for organic options: Ensure that the wines offered by the club are indeed organic. Look for wines that have been labeled as organic or those that the customer service team confirms are organic. Naked Wines is my top choice.

  • Variety and selection: Getting organic wine is fine and all, but if you can’t find the type you want, what’s the point? Make sure your chosen organic wine delivery offers what you want including reds, whites, sparkling, desserts, cocktails, and more. You’ll find an excellent selection from The California Wine Club

  • Educational material: A great wine club offers educational blog posts for those who may not already be very familiar with wine. Wine Insiders provides lots of information with it’s bottles.

  • Cost and membership flexibility: Understand the pricing structure. How often are shipments and what is the average cost per bottle? Be sure it fits within your budget and compare costs with our table. Also, consider the flexibility of the membership. Can you skip shipments or adjust the frequency as needed? Look for clubs that have a flexible cancelation policy without heavy penalties.

FAQ

Is it worth buying organic wine?

Yes, organic wine can help those who prioritize environmentally friendly and sustainable practices. Organic wines often have fewer additives and pesticides, which appeals to consumers seeking a more natural product. For instance, my favorite organic wine club this year is Naked Wines. It offers 9 solid options at any given time that also don’t break the bank.

Is organic wine easier on the liver?

There is no scientific evidence to confirm this. It's essential to drink responsibly, as the alcohol content, not the wine's organic nature, primarily affects the liver. However, organic wines can have other benefits.

For instance, organic wines are made from grapes grown without synthetic pesticides or herbicides, reducing your intake of potentially harmful chemicals. Plus, Organic wine standards often prohibit or limit additives like sulfites, which some people are sensitive to. Check out Wine Insiders for a solid collection of organic wines, many of which can be had for under $30.

Does organic wine not give you a hangover?

The notion that organic wine prevents hangovers is a common misconception. Hangovers result from consuming excessive alcohol and dehydration, regardless of whether the wine is organic. Drinking in moderation and staying hydrated are key to minimizing hangover effects.

If you’d like to pick up some wines that are both organic and have a lower ABV, I recommend checking out The California Wine Club.
